Default Moving a RAID 1 From PC to External Box ?

I have two 750 GB HDDs' in my PC in a RAID 1 array on a Gigabyte MB RAID SATA connection controler.

I am moving them out into this external enclosure and want to know if the DATA will be safe or do I need to move it off the drives and then set it up?

The box has it's own contoler and a single eSATA connection.

Thanks

I would take the safe route and copy or move the data off the Raid array, especially since the external has it's own controller

even if it was the same controller it'd still be risky just to move them - definately copy the data first
