Default Which sata chipset to use?

The aforementioned motherboard has two different SATA chipsets. 1 being the motherboards own and the second being the Intel ICH9R. Which do you think of the two would have less problems and a faster file system as the startup volume in a RAID 0 configuration? I've got 2 separate sets of drives. The first being a pair of 80 GB Raptors (1.5 Gb/s) and the second being a pair of Samsung 1TB HD103UJ (300 Gb/s).

Secondly, I purchased an internal SATA DVDR (LG GH20) that rips much slower connected to what appears to be one of the SATA connectors from the ICH9R than an external and much older (NEC 3550A) USB 2.0 drive...what gives?
