Default HP a250n issues

Ok well i had my 939 system crap out on me and while is save up for a replacement I bought this bucket of bolts for 40 bucks. I took my 2x512mb out of my 939 and put them and it doesnt boot, put them back in the 939 perfect bootup. Now the 939 boots fine, the SATA ports went bad aka no hard drive, and its also an old ECS board so what do i expect after 4 years of daily use right lol. Well The ram is fine, did memtestx86 on it via floopy and tested fine both sticks, but this HP wont read it, only the 2x256mb sticks it has. Any advice from anyone on how to fix this, I already upgraded the bios and would just like more than 512mb of ram.

Why didn't you just buy an SATA controller card instead of buying another PC?
