Default New Build, New to I7 ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 + 920 + 3X2 OCZ Platinum

Hi everyone. Im new to Core I7 and the X58 Chipset and there are a bunch of different setting in the BIOS that I just dont know about. So Im asking for a Simple Template to follow so I can get this build for my friend up and running with just a mild daily driver overclock or even just stock to start with then I might be able to figure more from there. I just find myself a little overwhelmed with this I7 business. I have way to much on in my head right now and I just want to get this build for my friend up and running. Thanks in advance!

Specs are:

ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 Motherboard
Intel Core I7 920 CPU stepping D0
OCZ Platiunum - OCZ3P1600LV6GK (OCZ Technology | Products | Memory | OCZ DDR3 PC3-12800 Platinum Low-Voltage Triple Channel )
Corsair HX1000W
2 X Nvidia 275GTX

OK so just so you dont call me a luzy bum I have a nice template ready to be filled in by a helpful person.

Default Re: New Build, New to I7 ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 + 920 + 3X2 OCZ Platinum

Here is some stock settings, hope this help ya for now as I may be leaving shortly.

Install windows 7 from USB, let me know if you need a guide. Well I guess you need a large (4GB) USB Stick first though :)

AI Overclock tuner:
CPU Ratio Setting: 21
Intel (R) SpeedStep (TM) Tech: Disabled
Intel (R) Turbo Mode Tech: <<< ? Enabled, below as well?
BLCK Frequency: 133
PCIE Frequency: 100
DRAM Frequency: set to 12 for 1600Mhz with stock Bclk (12x133=1596)
UCLK Frequency: x36 or x44, must be kept under 8.0Gt/s
QPI Link Data Rate: 24-26 ( 2x memory multi or 2x +1 or 2x +2 )

DRAM Timing Control:

1st Information :

CAS# Latency: 7
DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay: 7
DRAM RAS# PRE Time: 7
DRAM RAS# ACT Time: 20

All advanced timings can be left on auto for now, and forever if you like

DRAM RAS# to RAS# Delay <<< Auto
DRAM REF Cycle Time: <<< Auto
DRAM Write Recovery Time: <<< Auto
DRAM Read to Precharge Time: <<< Auto is fine
DRAM FOUR ACT WIN Time: <<< Auto
DRAM Back-To-Back CAS# Delay: Auto, he will have to read up on how this works

2nd Information :

DRAM Timing Mode:
DRAM Round Trip Latency on CHA: <<< Auto
DRAM Round Trip Latency on CHB: <<< Auto
DRAM Round Trip Latency on CHC: <<< Auto

3rd Information :

DRAM WRITE To READ Delay (DD):
DRAM WRITE To READ Delay (DR):
DRAM WRITE To READ Delay (SR):
DRAM READ To WRITE Delay (DD):
DRAM READ To WRITE Delay (DR):
DRAM READ To WRITE Delay (SR):
DRAM READ To READ Delay (DD):
DRAM READ To READ Delay (DR):
DRAM READ To READ Delay (SR):
DRAM WRITE To WRITE Delay (DD):
DRAM WRITE To WRITE Delay (DR):
DRAM WRITE To WRITE Delay (SR):

CPU Voltage: All up to your CPU, you know how this is. Auto for stock will be fine
CPU PLL Voltage: 1.7-1.8
QPI/DRAM Core Voltage: Set 1.3-1.45+< all depends on the CPU and memory timings and speeds, you will have to play around here BSOD Code 0x00000124 normally means you need more or you are using way to much
IOH Voltage: I use 1.20-1.24 for this, stock is 1.1 and normally wont be stable with overclocks for me but you never know

IOH PCIE Voltage: <<< ?
ICH Voltage: << Auto should be fine, this is 1.1V correct. Can set 1.14-1.2 if you like, if you think he may use 1-2 large cards or many drives a small bump wont hurt
ICH PCIE Voltage: << Auto or stock or just above, Should be 1.5 and that is fine

DRAM Bus Voltage: << 1.65
DRAM DATA REF Voltage on CHA:
DRAM DATA REF Voltage on CHA:
DRAM DATA REF Voltage on CHB:
DRAM DATA REF Voltage on CHB:
DRAM DATA REF Voltage on CHC:
DRAM DATA REF Voltage on CHC:

Load Line Calibration: << Enabled
CPU Differential Amplitude: <<< ?
CPU Clock Skew: 0
CPU Spread Spectrum: <<< ?
IOH Clock Skew : 0
PCIE Spread Spectrum: <<< ?

Advance CPU Settings
CPU Ratio Setting: 20 or 21 whichever it allows (21 is the max but some use 20 + Turbo = 21, others allow direct 21 input)

C1E Suppport: << Disable
Hardware Prefetcher: <<< ?
Adjacent Cache Line Prefetch <<< ?
Intel® Virtualization Tech: << Enabled if you think he will use Vmware/Virtual PC, if you are SURE He will never use that you can disable if you like.

CPU TM Function: << Enabled
Execute Disable Bit: << Enabled
Intel (R) HT Techology: <<< Enabled
Active Processor Cores: << All of them, 4 or 8 however it is worded.

A20M: <<< ? Sorry, if you want link me to the manual and I will look and see if it is any help with the things I put a ? on.

Intel (R) SpeedStep (TM) Tech: << Disabled
Intel (R) Turbo Mode Tech: << Enable
Intel (R) C-STATE Tech: << Disable, I think C2-3, ect (See manual )

Thanks a bunch LSD, That should be enough to get me setup. I have the manual and I will probably be ok to work out from here, I just didnt know what some of those advanced settings really did and your way of explaining things makes it easy for me to understand. I never thought of installing of a USB. I have a few 8gb sticks laying around. Thanks again for the helping start. Ill keep you all posted on progress.

Oh I forgot to mention that it will be using 4 1tb Seagate HDD in RAID 10 (0+1) and it will be using the 2 X NVIDIA 275GTX's but not in SLI at this stage. Might have to go for a TripleHead2Go as well as he has many many monitors. Ill Keep you guys posted and Ill probably get some nice pics. Its a One of a Kind Case that he won in Iceland at the Eve Online FanFest just this month.

OK Well things went pretty well today. The build is done and running @ 3.8Ghz with 1.32vcore. See if it goes a day with prime but it passed a few hours as well as a bunch of gaming. Max temp in Prime was 77c. Those noctua fans are so so bloody good. Being two of them with the 1366 cooler I was expecting a little more noise but all you can hear is the 4 X WD Black 1TB HDD's. 3.8@1.3v would not post. IDK but I feel the memory is the problem and probably has been from the start. Its not that its faulty it just wont run for **** @ 1600Mhz. But After much tinkering today im still very overwhelmed with the settings in the X58 tweaker. X48 is much damm easier. Some of these settings posted above are a little differently "worded" on this board.

AI Overclock tuner:
CPU Ratio Setting: 21 --I used 20
Intel (R) SpeedStep (TM) Tech: Disabled
Intel (R) Turbo Mode Tech: <<< ? Enabled, below as well?
BLCK Frequency: 133 ---- 190
PCIE Frequency: 100
DRAM Frequency: set to 12 for 1600Mhz with stock Bclk (12x133=1596) -- There was no 12 or anything it was just full frequencys to select which worked out about 1520Mhz I think, But Im sure I had to lower it to 1333 or something later to post.
UCLK Frequency: x36 or x44, must be kept under 8.0Gt/s -- This differed again it ws just 3800
QPI Link Data Rate: 24-26 ( 2x memory multi or 2x +1 or 2x +2 )This was someting like 6400Gt or something like that? I cant remember.
