Creating new gaming rig, help?

Hello, I am upgrading my gaming rig from Gigabyte MA770-US3 4GB DDR2 800mhz AMD Phenom Quad core 4.1Ghz 8Mb L1,L2,L3 cache and 512Mb DDR3 8800gt

To:

STRIKER EXTREME gaming motherboard
Q8300 Quad core 2.5Ghz (will overclock to 3.1)
Same mem

and i have no idea what video card or cards to get, and is it a good rig so far?

I am looking to use SLI and 2GB+ video card mem

I had accidently blown 2 transistors on my motherboard when a clip from the heat sink snapped and shorted it out.

Well firstly blown transistors on the MB could not be good. Second if you are going to be running such high Video RAM you will need a bare minimum of 4gb or system Ram and will most definatly need to run 64bit windows. See basically how I understand it the computer sorta allocates system memory the same ammount as your video memory aside to swap files from system to video. So if you had 2gb system memory and 2gb video memory you will be in trouble. Get 8gb system memory to be sure.
