Default I need some help with pointers for shopping for parts in a tropical climate

I'm taking my 4 sticks of OCZ Platinum Revision 2 ram and my EVGA E-Geforce 8800 GTS 640mg video card and moving to Honolulu, Hawaii. As I understand this Geforce video card will work properly and communicate with an AMD cpu, (not Intel) so since I'm probably picking parts that are cost effective from Comp USA I need to know what things I should lookout for to make sure my new computer has the fastest AMD chipset (I have been out of the hardware loop for a while) I guess I could go to another store besides Comp USA as long as there is a local store that is within bus reach of Diamond Head.
P.S. I do play UT2004 and farcry2 so I am a gamer. I think what I need is all solid capasitors, hopefully I can find this in a local shop cheap.
I found webpages explaining my memory and video card listed above:
Newegg.com - OCZ Platinum Revision 2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ2P800R22GK - Desktop Memory
Amazon.com: EVGA e-GeForce 8800GTS 640 MB PCIe Video Card: Electronics
I did get help for setting up my memory and this platinum edition which I have three of needs a custom setup as you can see from this post:
im having trouble with my OCZ Platinum - OCZ Forum
Anything else you feel will help me in my decision feel free to share it with me so I can make a more informed decision when the time comes.

/EDIT this is my memory info DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

I'm not truely up to date with todays technology either but there is no reason that your videocard won't work with Intel. The only issues you would run into would be if you plan on going dual videocard (SLI). You would then have to be sure not to buy a motherboard that specifies Crossfire (for dual ATI cards).

A full description of your RAM will help others to help you (PC2-6400? 3200? 1GB? 2GB?).

Hi vectoravtech
AMD chipsets are much better for ATI crossfireX cards. You can't crossfireX Geforce cards so scratch AMD chipset, or Geforce cards if you want AMD chipset.
Gigabyte GA-M750SLI-DS4
Nvidia 750A chipset
This has AM2 AM2+ and AM3 support and will SLI Support for Geforce You will need DDR-2 PC2-6400 for it.

I thought I had to find a chipset for my cpu that will communicate better with my video card with some default Nvidia software that is'nt working with my intel cpu right now; I was under the impression that it's an AMD cpu. But I do use intel on both of my computers now but have been having really low fps with dx10 on my card and its running intel cpu. On farcry2 I need to set dx10 to not use above 30fps which is pretty bad seeing how much I spent on my card.

Artdrivers thankyou for your reply, so if I stick with intel dual core which I read is faster not quad and solid capacitors on the motherboard. I'm looking for the fastest motherboard chipset that works well with my Nvidia video card. Also my memory OCZ Platinum needs some configuration to work properly. I do have a gigabyte 965P-DS3 rev 3.3 motherboard now so I know the memory can be set easily with this but since I'm going to comp usa I need to know what I can pickup there that will allow me to do my configuration for the memory I have.

No you can go with intel or amd cpu but for that Geforce card you may want to stay away from the AMD chipset. It supports ATI. If you don't remember AMD bought ATI. Moving to Hawaii? Lucky you.

LOL, I wont be given much of a choice as far as what I can pick at Comp USA My choice will be a motherboard that has a heat pipe and solid capasitors. At least I can make due with any gigabyte mobo as long as I can config my memory the way Platinum needs to be. I might need to get a mobo with fans. I'm leaning to all solid capasitors on the mobo because I know that will greatly improve its life span.

I will have a limited choice to what I can spend as well as get so this extra $200 add-on is definitely not a choice.

This sounds like the answer if it's going to be AMD cpu and an AMD cpu will save you a bundle.

Artdrivers that link is sending me to the Gigabyte links page.

I'm seeing this:

Dear GIGABYTE customers:

For providing a better Internet service and more vivid interface, GIGABYTE has re-designed the website structure.

Original links and folders have been changed. Please use the link below to find your information.

I found this great way to locate stores with computer products in hololulu: http://local.thefind.com/qq-motherboard/local-1

What about this mobo? I just found it on the link right above this: http://www.compusa.com/applications/...zCjCVqHCjCdwwp
Does this motherboard allow me to config the OCZ Platinum bios settings?
