For a great burner have a look at the Plextor PX-716SA: http://www.plextor.com/ENGLISH/products/716SA.htm . I have the IDE version and I've been very happy with it. I don't remember ever creating a bad burn with this thing. It has options that most burners do not have. The only downside that I've found is the price. I wound up with mine as a result of returning a cheaper defective burner to a store and tradeing up to this one - the $50 CAD difference was well worth it in the long run.

Plextor drives are excellent, but if you want to save a little money, I've had very good luck with LG and LiteOn drives, the latest being a LiteOn DVDRW(DL)/DVDRAM drive with Litescribe. I've yet to have a bad burn. The retail package comes bundled with black and beige faceplates, NERO OEM 6.6 and includes software to design your own Litescribe labels.
At the present state of CD/DVD burner technology, you won't see very much difference or improvement by going with a SATA burner over an IDE burner (although the ability to use a thin SATA cable may help airflow inside the case a tiny bit).

Well, I'm trying to get away with a fairly cheap, but still good burner. I'm just gonna burn some home videos, maybe a Linux dvd once in a while, mainly -/+RW burns. Plextor drives are by far the most expensive burners in Sweden at the moment, and as for the sata connectoin, I'm only interested in that because it's much tidier.
Anyway, would you recommend an LG burner over a NEC one?

My NEC burner has been my most faithful drive over the last 2 yeears. I have the 3500AG and I have burned 500+ movies and at least 300 CD's. It also reads disks better than any DVD Rom I have had (Including the LG DVD rom I currently run). I don't think you could find a better mid range burner than NEC.

Well, seems like I'll be going for the NEC burner, then. Thanks for the help!
