HI all this is my first post in this forum.

I want to build a computer and i need to know if the combination is good.
I am only 14 and i know how to build the pc but am having doubts about the motherboard and GPU!!!! PLz reply to me

Case: ATX gaming transparent

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X48T-DQ6

GPU: ATI 3870 X2 1GB

Processor: Intel Pentium Dual core 3.4GHz

RAM: Kingston 1GB DDR3

Power supply: Corsair 650Watts


HDD : Maxtor sata 250GB

Case fans: led case fans(X3)

System software: windows Vista Ultimate 64

Keyboard + mouse: logitech wireless

Speakers: 7.1 Surround

Just my own opinion here, but I would probably run with 4GB of memory given your OS of choice and get a more powerful power supply.

1GB of memory just doesn't cut it anymore and 2GB should be your minimum level in this category. I chose 4GB since you are planning on using a 64-bit OS and it can address the higher quantities of RAM.

Corsair makes an excellent PSU, but your 650 watt unit is getting mightly close to the edge of its performance if not going beyond its capabilities. I would probably choose a good 800-900 watt model as a baseline and maybe higher if I had upgrade plans in the future.

You did not mention optical drives in your build. Since you are looking at an X48 based product, make sure to run with SATA drives if possible. Not only are IDE ports slowly being phased out, the use of a SATA drive gives you less headaches since you don't have to mess around with setting jumpers on the drives. Just plug them in and go.

As to your concerns regarding the motherboard and GPU, they will go fine together. I am unsure with your notes above whether you are planning on a single 3870X2 or dual 3870 boards, but either setup will run well since the mainboard is designed to handle the ATI CrossFireX.

thanks Darthtanion so i will jus change the 650 Watts of power supply to 850WATTS and the RAM to 4GB.

It will work fine, and if you get a quality 850 watt PSU and decide to upgrade to a CrossFire setup with a pair of those boards, you should still have plenty of overhead to handle the load.
