help me install linux please... am a newbie hir... tnx
good day... i'm trying to install mandrakelinux 10.1 but i've got many problems encountered regarding my pc. Compaq deskpro 4000 (1566) doesn't load its BIOS everytime i hit F10. I already checked out the softpaq utility oferred by hp to access BIOS and change the boot order of the pc, but when i downloaded the softpaq, i accessed the BIOS but the computer don't read the cdrom device and so the boot order and i still can't install linux... somebody please help me... It can't read the cdrom although I have used the cdrom lately when I haven't formatted my c:, now i formatted my c: and I can't install linux... some advice pips? nid ur help so much... tnx..

linux is read and installed on a dvd player only!!.....im installing suse 10 linux this weeekend i had to grab a dang dvd player to do it .i didnt know what the heck was going on either til the engineer at my job who gave my linux told me...dvd player only!! just got the thing below plus its a burner for music too

For another $15 you could/should have gotten a Dual Layer DVD burner:

Furthermore, Linux can be installed from any media with sufficient capacity. Some distros come on floppies...

linux distros come on far more media than just DVD.
this is no different than buying a game on DVD when you only have a CD-ROM.
go download the CD iso pay more attention next time
