I just received my MX-800HD today. I find it a great thing I can download anykind of media file and just play it through my network onto my HDTV. You can even hook up an DVD player and play through the USB, or even play off an extenal USB system. It is really a great system so far. I threw a 1 TB drive in and will copy all those media files I play a lot. But playing through the network works just great. This is a MUCH better option then building a whole computer system. This unit is very small, and you wouldn't even know by looking at what it is. Good stuff.

I couldn't understand why would Unicorn spread some lies about MvixUSA. Why can't they accept that MvixUSA and their company is now separated? And now, they are imitating the products of Mvix. Good thing that they are now on a legal track.

Anyway, I still have to choose on which whether of this two companies I will prefer. Then, obviously I choose MvixUSA. Not because of they are in the right side (that's a part of my reason), but because I am very satisfied with what they are giving us. The customers.

I love their products especially the new released Mvix Ultio 1080p. I just bought this one and I am really happy that I bought it.

Our family gather together every week end and loves to spend quality time bonding with each other by watching movies with our Plasma. I was the one assigned to prepare the movie we are about to watch by downloading it and burning it to DVD since I don't know how to cook. But now I can offer a hand to help in preparing the food because Mvix Ultio freed me from time consuming burning process. We can enjoy any movie we want directly from the saved media files in the internal HDD of Ultio to our big screen. It definitely saves my time and effort!

Mvix Ultio is a really help even for me. I also have more time now with my family because I don't spend much time in front of the computer preparing what movie they like. Now, I can sit back with them in the living room and watch the movie that they prefer directly from the internet or from the computer.

While poking around with Google for more info about the Mvix Ultio MX-800 I came across the site Mvix.NET as opposed to MvixUSA :: Solutions for the HD Planet from whence the Mvix Ultio (MX-800HD) is offered. The other site is ostensibly for "Unicorn Korea". It currently leads with the following announcement.

Unfortunately MvixUSA - Unicorn partner in USA for the last few years has recently announced their new device - the so called "Mvix Ultio (MX-800HD)". This announcement is to clarify to all that device is not a Unicorn product, nor it will be supported by Unicorn now or in the future in anyway.

According to initial Unicorn Investigations to the subject matter, the device is an independent unauthorized OEM initiative made by MVIXUSA and originated from other vendor. The use of the mvix name brand on any product or publication without the advance explicit authorization or permission of Unicorn Korea was reported to the legal department of the company with a clear instructions to take all necessary steps to protect Unicorn rights without delay.

Please note : Any dealer or an e-tailer worldwide offering the sale or distribution of any Mvix devices without explicit authorization in advance from Unicorn Korea will be held liable for infringing Unicorn rights and will be prosecuted to the maximum extent allowed by the law.

I'm confused. Anybody know what is up with this? It doesn't help that the Korean Unicorn site apparently has their own version of a MX-800HD (aka Mvix800HD?).

(Note: I tried to insert a link to their info about their Mvix800HD, but couldn't get the link to work. The Korean site appears to be based on Adobe flash player. FWIW, I prefer the MvixUSA site. Does that make it the better product? )

I've had the unit for over a month and there are already two confirmed bugs per tech support. From the device to my network, drops connection all the time. Always need to reboot the device. Shortcuts also do not work properly per the manual. Can add a shortcut but can't edit it or create one from scratch. If you can't access your shares from the device, defeats the purpose really. I've reboot the thing 1000 times already for this issue. Using updated firmware. Used the tech support ticket system and just kept going back and forth with those guys and I had to repeat everything 3 times so the ticket turns out to be 2 pages long with me saying the same thing over and over. If these bugs aren't worked out in the next few weeks I'll be forced to return product and look into the HD TV or Popcorn. Not that I want to, but heck if a brand new product isn't working properly it should be taken care. Here it hasn't been even going through the proper channels.
