Default Vista reboots
I have been running Vista Ultimate for about nine months without any problems. Now when I try to shut down the computer I get a screen that tells me the computer is shutting down. It shuts down but then reboots. Is there a fix for this.

Just confirm that you are indeed "Shutting" the computer down, go to start menu and click the little arrow thingy next to the "Power Button" and select Shutdown. If you are just clicking the Power button it could be that somehow that has change to restart?

When I press the power button and hold it for a few seconds the computer shuts down ok. Thats the only way that I can shut down the computer. This problem really bugs me. I wont rest until its fixed. Help:

Holding it down for a few seconds will just switch off your computer. I was just wonder what actually happens when you just press your case's power button once. Did you try clicking the arrow in the start menu next to the power symbol and selecting shut down. Describe what happens when you do that?

When I press the power button for a second or two nothing happens. When I click the arrow next to the start button the computer will shut down and the screen will go black but the power supply wont shut off. Then about 5 seconds later the computer will start the post and will reboot into windows.

Hmm Thats real strange. Have you gone into the Control Panel - Power Options - Change Advance Power Settings and had a hunt through there to see if anything is a miss? If not do that.

Hi Ron, I have the same problem with Vista 64, can you tell me what you changed in the advanced power settings as this is driving me crazy as well.
