darwin is the apple project for intel x86 computers. its the core OS not the mac gui..

So the post about OS X being free was somewhat misleading? What I don't get is what the point of this is. Without the GUI it's pretty much just Unix (OS X is based off BSD underneath the GUI isn't it?), right? It won't run any programs that any Linux distro or free BSD will, will it?

you can run BSD and linux apps.

fink works too. so you can use that to grab whatever packages you need..

Not thinking when I posted. I meant: It won't run any programs that Linux won't, will it? In other words, will it run Mac programs?
