Default New Core i7 860 build!

New build time!

Core i7 860
8Gb (4x2Gb) Patriot Viper DDR3 1600
EVGA P55 SLI
Diamond Radeon 5870
Patriot Torqx
Seagate 750Gb ES.2 (not in pic, was spare I already had)
Corsair TX750
Antec 1200 full tower
HP 2509 25" LCD
Saitek Cyborg keyboard
Razer Diamondback mouse

This is the parts shortly after arrival.

These are the parts assembled and on my desk :D

The Diamond Radeon 5870 died after 3 days. No problem, took it back to Fry's who were out of stock of 5870's to replace it with. I then took a GTX295 to hold me over and paid the difference. When I got home, I hit Zipzoomfly and ordered a pair of HIS 5870's and those are on the way now. So, when they get here, I can move the GTX295 over to the i7 920 rig and be set for some Crossfire 5870 luvin' :D

Very similar indeed! Very glad I went with the Torqx. Picking the right SSD was an agonizing process.

Yes the SSD was a good choice though. 10 years to make sure it works. haha

Nice system......

And yes Devit, mine is always for sale. We probably have at least 1600-2000 into these systems. moshpit's is a little nicer than mine. I just ordered a 5770 so that will make mine more "competitive" with his. It certainly isn't the 5870 though.

I went all out this time. I spent $2800 on my main rig in the end, including everything. Main box and all components, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and free OS. The OS was my Launch Party copy of Win7 Sig Ed that I saved for this build. The pair of HIS 5870's are purring away in CrossfireX mode without any issues, the SSD has been dreamy fast, the new monitor is a delight to behold, the amount of memory is never even close to threatened by any wayward apps (though I don't have any wayward apps, everything behaves itself perfectly), everything is just perfect with this rig. I've had good builds before, but this one really takes the prize from the get go.

The only things that may change are:
1.The EVGA P55 SLI may get replaced with MSI Big Bang if Lucent Hydra 200 proves itself.
2. RAID card with optimized SSD support, haven't really picked one yet.

You know Gigabyte is releasing P55 boards with USB-3 and SATA-3 next month

I think I will end up getting one of those. We could almost use the SATA-3 with the SSDs

And USB-3 is just cool! I can't wait until external devices come out supporting USB-3....

USB3 and SATA 3 arn't a big deal to me as much as the Lucid Hydra is. Not having to depend on profiles for Crossfire support would be really liberating.

Does that keyboard have backlights? What color if so, and how much was it?

Nice build by the way!
