Default Power Supply question

Hi,

Right now I have a corsair hx620 power supply and my system is:

- 2 320mb 8800s
- 3600+ eating 1.38v
- 2 Sata hard drives
- 6 fans (zalman 9500 on the cpu, 2 80 mm, 2 120 mm, 1 92 mm)
- 4 sticks of memory
- 1 optical drive
- network adapter pci card

I want to upgrade my proc to the 6400+ black which is a lot more power hungry, will the hx620 be enough? I ran a wattage calculator and it said that my power draw would be approx. 430w under 90% system load and 470w under 100% load. I read good things about this psu's efficiency, but what kind of overhead should I be looking for? Is the 5000+ black a safer choice for this PSU?

Gonna be away all afternoon, thanks in advance to any replies.

Default Re: Power Supply question

That model is an exceptional power supply and should suit your needs as long as it can handle your current setup. While some processors are hungyier than others for power, few that I can even think of would be an issue. Most of the time you will run into power issues when you start adding in more potent graphics cards or alternative cooling solutions.
