Default PS question......probably a dumb one, buuuuut.....

I do NOT trust my computer knowledge and DO trust the knowledge on this board....

I bought a 7900gs.....got a nice deal.....have to upgrade the power.....bought a decent PS and before I installed it into the computer I got to thinking that it MIGHT be possible to use the new PS for the graphics card and continue to use the existing power supply for everything else......sort of an external power supply for the graphics card.....but, I also don't want to fry a brand new card or, even worse, the computer......IS this possible or, if it is, worth the effort and hassle......I'm good at the easy stuff.....installing memory/PS/cards, etc., but, you could train a chimp to do that stuff......messin' with power is a different story....;)

there's no reason why you can't split the load between the PSU's, ie HD's on one & Mboard on the other, seems to a bit of waste of resources thou, unless you have a ****load of HD's, my server is running with 3 PSU's & 2 Cases (yes it is one PC, it has 11 HD's in it)
