Add-on for Word to make worksheets for teacher?

I have a teacher friend that is wanting something that would help in making worksheets for her classroom easier. Word itself is not a good program for this and I was wondering if anyone knew of anything that would be a good program for this? She had been using a mac and appleworks which she loved but was forced to switch when the computers have gone to pc. Anyone care to comment and give some info. Thanks.

MS Publisher might be useful to make worksheets.

word will do all most the same sort of things if you know how to run it

but I need to know a bit more detail - a couple of screenshots of some samples would be good.

powerpoint is used a lot for class notes etc, you can use it to create notes that go with your slides
