If you are using onboard graphics.
The Dell needs the chipset drivers updated Intel 810E Chipset or 82810E Intel found here-----> Download Software, Drivers and Utilities Filters You will need to boot into safe mode by taping on the F8 key when booting and install the driver after you get into safe mode. emachines D3107 You can chat live with a tech and ask for a bios update give them the memory numbers To be sure a bios update will help. The Tech support live chat tab is at the bottom of this page------> http://www.emachines.com/support/pro...es&model=D3107

You will want to chat with Emachine online not by phone It's the only way I know to get a Emachine bios update. http://www.emachines.com/support/pro...es&model=D3107
I would perform a clean install on that Dell. You will want to set your CD drive to boot in bios and reboot to CD drive with the XP CD in the drive. Run windows setup with the format option. This will remove all the old data off your hard drive and install a fresh XP on your hard drive. After it is done you will want to run windows updates.
