10 year warranty is damn good for SSD, longest one I have seen I think!

No, no need to set the ram voltage to spec, that is just the max allowed under warranty is all. You can have it as low as you like, as long as it is stable of course. Mushkin's are often easily undervolted, sorry I did not include any of that for my testing in this review, I should have now that you mention it!

Thanks for that Psycho! I am looking at getting two CT64M225 SSD's from Crucial here shortly, just looking around at others beforehand is all.

I did find 80GB Gen 2 X-25M for $239, a whole $100 cheaper than newegg, but I think I need more space than that

It does seem a bit weird. There are both good and bad reviews about. Maybe drive variation or firmware differences etc.

They used this benchmark, if you want to give it a go: Alex Intelligent Software - Downloads: AS SSD Benchmark The OCZ Vertex scored 157 points over all in AS SSD, where as the Torqx only managed 91 points. It seem s that the drive looks pretty good in most synthetic bench marks, it just gets a low over all AS score and seems to perform disproportionally poor in all real world tests except Win 7 boot times where it's joint second fastest (of 6 drives tested).

It IS strange to hear the good and bad about it. I would have noticed if I had catastrophic stuttering..... I also have heard the firmware IS the same as the Vertex. It's just branded different. (different names) You can actually take the OCZ firmware and flash it to a Torqx and it will be recognized in device manager as a Vertex. It voids the warranty but I have seen people do it. (in videos)

Maybe they had a bad sample. I just know if I were to buy another right now for RAID 0, it would be the same one I have now. Believe me, I have put this thing through quite a bit.

They also have "performance restore utility" on the Patriot site. I have used it and it. (wiper.exe I think) Maybe they had not used this utility.

Anyway, we're in the wrong thread here, so that's all I have to say. ahah

Getting back on topic, I hear this memory I have is VERY hard to find now with the release of the P55 boards. (996679) The stuff I got is "out of stock" where I got it and I checked around at 2 other places and nobody seems to have it and people are looking for it.

I feel lucky. Seems like very good RAM

Flashing a Torqx to a Vertex is possible because the drives are identical, not the firmware. Identical drives mean a cross flash, hence why an OCZ flashed Torqx will be ID'd as a Vertex.

PC Format did use the wiper.exe utility from the drive controller manufacturer, but it had no effect. The drive was also brand new, so didn't really need restoring.

I know that SSD's are a bit OT in this thread, but I'd be interested to see if your figure in AS SSD matches the PC Format score of 91. Every other RAM manufacturer seems to be getting in on SSD's, so it might not be as OT as it seems soon. "The Mushkin Munchkin, 128GB SSD" may be just round the corner.

They do sell Mushkin SSD's in EU, I am trying to find out if they ever will here or not.

I see your title is fixed again now :)

Hey LSD,

Once again, nice review man. Lot's of good info and detailed settings...

I like the way these Mushkins perform, but the Ballistix Blue would just look "killer" in my system :)

p.s. OCZ Vertex = One of the best upgrades I have ever done (from raptor 74gb), and no problems so far (since April)...
