I had xp pro with 768mb and my system ran perfect, now i added the service packs. and things run fine for a while then stuff starts to freeze. and i need to restart. i have all current drivers , and ran all spyway scan and everything is clean and no issues and like i said my sytem was perfect before the update. i checked available ram when stuff starts to freeze and i only have around 300mbs give or take. if i add 512mb or 1gb more ( for a total of 1024mb) will this solve the problem? |

thanks for the link, in it i read 2.) If a PC has less than 512 MB of RAM, add more memory. This is a relatively inexpensive and easy upgrade that can dramatically improve system performance.
is this my problem? do the service packs take up more memory? cause my sytem ran perfectly before for the last 6 years.. lol |

I would imagine so. Is your system DDR or DDR2?
If it is DDR2 buying a new set of 2x1GB would be cheaper than buying more 512MB sticks and would be much better improvement If you are using DDR I suggest you buy a single 1GB stick, if you cannot afford 2x1GB. It is a little bit higher priced is why I said that. It very well could be the issue, but you wont find out for sure until you add more memory. This is a good upgrade anyway, so even if it turns out to not be the issue your system will run smoother anyway once you correct the problem
