I have recently bought a pc package system with a celeron 2.5ghz sitting on a i845 board. is it possible to upgrade the chip to a P4 and if so is there a limit to what speed I can go with this particular chipset?

Well it's almost certainly possible, but the max bus speed of the motherboard may limit your choices.

I believe the 845 chipset limits you to a 533mhz FSB P4, and I'm unsure if the 3.06 w/ HT will work or not.

Yeah, I'm not sure about the -GE but I have the 845PE motherboard in my P4 computer and I know that it will support up to the 3.06ghz P4 Northwood on the 533mhz FSB.
