am having this problem with my E8400 processor it's supposed to work at 3.0Ghz, unfortunately it's seems that i've a problem with that when i used CPU-z to check my system it works only on 2.0 GHz my system as follows: Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2C Intel Core 2 Due E8400 4GB RAM (2x2GB FSB 800) P.S. am not overclocking .. yet ! |

oh, so it's not a problem, it's a kinda service ?!
thanks man i was getting mad about it so can i ask how to overclock my CPU ? it's my first time, i don't want it to end losing my PC or smthn |

Ya, it is not a problem. It is by design, Intel designed the processors/boards to be able to lower voltages and CPU multiplier when the system is idle to save energy
You want them disable when overclocking I would suggest you read this guide, it will help you alot with your board and BIOS and help you learn to overclock the right way >> Gigabyte X38/P35/P965 (DS* DQ* S3) Overclocking and General BIOS tweaking Guide Since you have a G31 instead of P31 or P35 some of the BIOS options may not be in your BIOS though, but please do read and learn as it was written for your board/BIOS in general. Also on the MAIN Page of the BIOS you can press Control + F1 and the screen will flash, then go into MIT section and if any settings were hidden they will then be visible.

actually i've just found ur guide after posting my question .. seems very perfect .. u should get a Nobel prize for that guide :D
though am having a problem with understanding the 4-5-3 -15 thing, donno where i can find'em |

it's written in the guide [disabled] in red ..
anyway i've followed the guide but every time i do it the BIOS is reset so i've set Voltages to [Auto] Multiplier to x9 and FSB to 400 RAM freq. multiplier to 2.0 and my system is workin at 3.6Ghz now thanks for everything .. I appreciate ur help :) |
