Angry Too much voltage?

Its been awhile since i've posted and my concern is that I think I am sending too much voltage to my cpu. I have it at fsb261 and memory is 216 i think. Is 1.49 V too much for my processor to operate daily? The thing that makes me mad is in the bios i set the voltage to 1.49 but cpu-z says 1.520-1.530 and this worrys me. I dont undersatand why i can do 2.4ghz with no vltage raise perfectly stable and then I need so much more volts for 2.6?

1.5v is just fine. I've had my Athlon 64 3000 at about that for nearly a year now. It's 100% stable and gets great temperatures. Lots of people run theirs at 1.55v-1.6v.

if you have decent cooling - ie water or an awesome air cooler - you can go a lot higher than that

Hey yawg what is your current speed you run your 3000+ daily at? Also would running mine at 2.6 be safe to reinstall windows with? I Ran pcmark05 and 3dmark06 and usally when its not stable it locks those programs up. I just dont want to have to reinstall windows twice just for that 2 second quicker install...

Never ever install windows on an overclock. Very good chance it will screw up the install so that you get to try again. Even if it is a known good overclock, it is still better to install @ default speeds.

On the other hand, if it can't handle a Windows installation it's not stable anyway... But no, there is a risk of hard drive corruption, so it's generally not wise to install with a system that might not be completely stable.

My 3000 is currently at 2.47GHz due to a motherboard limitation. Actually, I should go check and see if that hasn't been fixed by a new BIOS revision...
