SG33G5M and G33 update
Vista now comes up with an essential update for "Intel Corporation - Video - Intel(R) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family".
When I run this update everything seems to be ok. I'm using the HDMI output for my screen on a 1680:1050 resolution.
But when in a session I unpower the screen (Acer TFT AL2251W) and after some time put it back on the resolution of the screen has changed to a less resolution. This did not happen before.
Now I installed the drivers from shuttle again and everything is working as it should again. But Windows keeps telling me I have to install this essential update.
How can I get rid of the update message?
Or will there also be a specific Shuttle update to the G33 driver?

Re: SG33G5M and G33 update
This is actually a Windows question, not Shuttle, but here goes.
Go to Windows Update and view all available updates, right click on the driver update and select "hide".

Re: SG33G5M and G33 update
Now a G33 driver update is needed otherwise the Vista SP1 won't be available to install. The driver Shuttle is providing is considered by windowsupdate as malicious and therefor the SP1 isn't provided.
See Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is not available for installation from Windows Update and is not offered by Automatic Updates
Will Shuttle release an update?

Re: SG33G5M and G33 update
Does anyone have the same problem I have using HDMI?
An G33 update from Intel results in a loss of screen resolution after a monitor switch off. But when no working update of the driver is available Vista SP1 won't be submitted as an automitic windowsupdate.

Re: SG33G5M and G33 update
Now I've re-read your 1st post I can see your prob, you're using a too high resolution for that video (1280x720 is where you should be with it) so if you want to run at higher then get yourself a cheap HDMI video card (XT2600HDMI or 3650HDMI card, the 1st is very cheap).
I recommended ATi here as they just perfom better for this use.

Re: SG33G5M and G33 update
wayout44, thanks for your reply.
The point is that the current driver supplied by Shuttle works fine on the 1680x1050 resolution on HDMI. I don't think it is to high.
Also the new Intel driver works fine on that resolution with the difference it loses the resolution after switching off and on again the monitor. The Shuttle driver doesn't have this problem.
So why would a new Shuttle version (Vista SP1 compatible, keeping up resolution) not be the solution?
Maybe there is an other way to let the new Intel driver keep up the resolution on HDMI. I haven't found a setting for that.
I think the driver-programmers make the drivers too smart by using all kind of auto detecting features whitch can't be overuled.
