Try this out for 984 ram speed. I think your previous issue with 965 was MCH voltage. Try hitting Control + F1 on the MAIN BIOS screen then go into MIT and see if you can find "Driving Strength Profiles" If so use 1066 MB Intelligent Tweaker(M.I.T.) Oops sorry about the fine clock ratio. i totally missed that.
Yes i do have the setting, but i left it at 0 since i didnt want to overclock the CPU that much... Here's what i got it stable at, and yes i believe the MCH solved my problem of lockups... Ahh, ok about Fine clock, I just wanted to be sure as it sounded like you did not see it at first. Ya, I dont use it either, I use 9
All settings should be taking affect in windows, as long as you are not seeing a red warning box when you enter the BIOS. As for Memset Vs. BIOS, you can see what is what here, I outlined with a image and some additional info >>> Memory Timings Explained W/ Suggested Timings & Memset VS. BIOS
