I take it there is no OS installed on the HD yet.
Do you have the DVD as first boot drive or tried to choose it with F12 at boot time? What kind of DVD is it? IDE or SATA? If SATA what is the SATA configuration and what port is it connected to?

I have Windows 7 installed on C drive and cannot boot from CD/DVD because it goes straight to desktop. When I tried to install Windows 7 on another blank drive, drive F, I disconnected the C drive and get that bootmgr is missing and can't go any further. These are both SSD drives.
I did have Cd selected as first boot. The DVD burner is SATA--and I used it to install Windows 7 on C drive and it worked. |

As for the SSD, when I tried to install Windows 7, I got that bootmgr is missing and couldn't do anything. I will try a few things, change BIOS, move SSD port connections, and maybe something else. I did run a virus scan and it found nothing wrong. So, I don't know what is going on. I will check in later if you have any info. Thanks! |

I tried updating the BIOS and that did nothing. I took out my Floppy Drive yesterday and does that have any impact? I was able to boot from the USB Flash drive and update my BIOS, but still can't boot from Windows 7 DVD.
Do I need to put back my Floppy Drive? I could try using Boot Menu (F12) and select my DVD burner as first boot and hit any key to install Windows 7 on another drive, and maybe that is what I will do. I know in Device Manager it still has my Floppy Drive listed as working and it is not connected. |

I tried to load Windows 7 on a SSD and got that bootmgr is missing. I then tried to install Vista and got the same message. Is this the BIOS problem?
With the working SSD loaded with Windows 7, I don't get the bootmgr missing but it does not boot from my DVD burner, just goes stright to desktop. I have one SSD drive on Port 0 and the other on Port 2, I haven't tried putting the other on port 1. The DVD burner is on port 5 where it has always been. |

Have you disable floppy (set Drive A to none) in standdard BIOS settings?
