Default Re: Can't boot from SATA DVD on MA78GM

I don't know if the release ver of Win 7 will upgrade a Win XP installation but I am quite sure it is not possible with Win 7 RC.

It won't, that's why I have to be able to boot from the Windows 7 DVD. I want to install the 64-bit version. The 32-bit version can start from within the XP environment but the 64-bit version will not.

I have a IDE DVD and was having trouble getting it to boot with a Windows 7 DVD. Try turning off your computer with the switch on the psu and hold the front case power switch in for 20 seconds. Then reboot.

Turned out to be the keyboard. The enter key and spacebar (and function keys] were not working in the BIOS setup so when it asked to hit a key to boot from CD, nothing happened and it went to the hard drive. When I figured that out and just hit a lot keys at random, it proceeded to boot from the SATA DVD drive, just as it shoule have. Thanks for all the help.
