Default EP45-UD3 Northbridge information

I modified the nb heatsink in accordance with:
http://developer.intel.com/Assets/PD...ide/319975.pdf

I used a automobile interior/exterior lcd thermometer cost $10,attached with aradldite>.edit (the sensor not the readout :)
Rather than post a lot of test figures:

1.The test temperatures on full load for 1hr with mch /nb voltage at 1.4:
sys temp(which everyone has)=38*C
Northbridge center of heatsink =37.6*C.

Conclusion :
Unless your UD3 system is on "the outer limits",the shown system temperature is very close to the northbridge temperature.

Ambient temps 17-19C
Now reading 18.4C
The sensor seemed to lag approx .5C behind system temp reading.

I moved the sensor out of its "hole",it was only held with a tiny drop of araldite,just in case.
The wires werent countersunk into the heatsink.I didnt feel like doing that much surgery.
I now have the sensor(with a little cover so fan air wont affect it) clamped to the thickest part of the heatsink low down,for testing.The results seem similar now have 33.8C at idle and sys temp shows 35.

Ill do some testing with it in the new position.I had been hoping for big temp jumps over the sys temp.Its not happening yet ,still it does save poking around with your finger to see if its hot.

The NB hs had a thin coat of some brown thermal compound on it when i removed it ,Very thin and totally dry.
To get the sensor back deep into the hs Ill have to remove the mbrd again,the hs is held on with push pins.
For now Im going to test it in different positions with plastic ties.
Ill probably turn off my nb /memory fan for testing later when i clock the pc down a bit.

edit:
Just pulled the case cover off sys temp showing 31, nb sensor showing 28.6.Ill do a bit of testing.I dont like the cover off tho,want to get some figures with the "grunge" filters in

Ok
Got some progress now,in temp measurement .

By turning my nb/memory fan so that iblowsdirectlyfrom front to back of the case:(Instead of being angled down at 45* on to the memory and nb)

OAT=17C
idle
sys/mbrd temp =33C
Northbridge=36.8C

load
sys/mbrd temp= 37C
Northbridge=40.2C

I only did a 10 min test and it took a few min for the nb temp to come back down to 36.
I suppose what it really indicates is the value of a nb/memory cooling fan .

Last update..unless someone else has further interest.
Nb /memory fan angled to cool memory +nb again.
Prime 95 1hr test(blend)

room/ambient air temp 23-24C, 23.4 average.

full load:speeds
CPU fan:1914 rpm,2000 rpm max
NB/memory fan:1314 rpm,1750 rpm max

full load:temps max readings
gx cpu :48C
sys temp:41C
NB temp:42C
CPU temp overall:65C
Core0:71
Core1:68
Core2:68
Core3:64

The wires to the nb sensor being exposed and cooled by fan airflow ,may affect readings.There is plenty of wire length,so ill try and route the wires out of any cooling.
Readings are the max shown on coretemp/realtemp/speedfan.whichever is higher.These are24/7 case cover on,grunge filters installed readings.

Nice to see that the "System" Temp is actually that close to the real NB Temps!

Thanks for testing and providing your results and info!
