Default Re: EP45T-UD3P MOBO with G.Skill 1600 = EPIC FAILURE

Sorry that nothing's worked for you. It's a mystery indeed. Sounds like a case of incompatibility. It seems there are more problems (seen on this forum) with P45's and DDR3 than there are with DDR2. I don't know the reason for this though, and it might not be representative of the real picture.

As you disassemble the system, have a quick check for bent pins on the CPU socket if you haven't already.

Please post back when you get it. I know it means that you won't have a Gigabyte product any more, but I'd still be interested to see if you have success with another model/brand.

Good luck!

Thanks bro... I'm going to give this mobo another chance!!... gonna go return my PSU which i think based on your advice is most likely the 1st problem with my setup...
its a powerBAY ATX 12v 2.2 +5v 30A red +3.3v 32A Orange +12v 17A Y
+12V 18A Y / -12v 0.5A blue / 5vsb 2.0A
I notice the cpu fan spins with my other psu, an OCZ 650watt
but its practically dead from all those past days of gaming :D
Can you recomend me a psu for this mobo?
No bent pins on the cpu socket... there is still hope! the cpu fan spinning on my old ocz psu gave me hope :D

Depending on your graphics card, something in the range of 500-800W should be good. For brands, try Corsair (TX 550, TX650 TX750, HX 520, HX620 HX750) BFG (ES-800 only), Enermax, BeQuiet, Tagan, FSP.

For a single Low-mid end card (9600GT or a 4600 series) 500W is fine. It should also be more than enough for a good mid end 9800GT or 4770. For anything above a 9800GTX(+) or 4850, 600W would be nice to have so you sit in the decent efficiency range and the PSU fan remains quiet.

I would try a completely different brand to one you have already tried and has failed to boot the PC. Without knowing the exact model of the 650W OCZ, it's possible they're basically the same PSU. Companies such as OCZ don't make their own PSU's, they use OEM's that make them and re-badge for them. these OEM's use virtually the same PSU design for a range of wattages, and just swap out certain components depending on the capacity needed. You could find that the new OCZ (90% that the OEM is either Topower or the OCZ owned PC Power and Cooling) doesn't work either.

Wow! That's a great price!!! It's a top quality PSU, rock solid stable, relatively quiet and efficient. You've made a sound buy.

IMO, even with the extra 100W of power, the Corsair is a better buy.

Not sure about compatibility. Unless someone who has one, and the same board, can post. There aren't any actual compatibility lists because, in theory, all modern PSU's should work (which we know is not always the case).
