Default EX38 DS4 New Build

Well I have gotten a few problems not sure if motherboard based or not, but just wanted to ask see everyones input. I have ran memtest and I come up with an error. I have changed the voltage and timing to match that of the RAM. During the Windows Memory Diagnostic I found that only the DDR2III slot seemed to cause problems, but dont know how realible that is. Also, when ever my comp goes to sleep it wont restart. It starts to boot but doesnt get enough to even get the monitor back on and just continuously does this.

Ex38 DS4
(4X1) Corsair Dominator 1066
XFX 9800 GTX
150 GB Raptor
500 GB Barracuda
600w OCZ Stealthxstream
q9450 w/ Arctic Freeze Pro 7
Vista Ultimate 64 bit

Think thats everything.

I have only changed the voltage and timing for my RAM.

Well first I can tell you STOP using Sleep now before you need to RMA.

Second for 4GB you definitely need to make some more changes, MCH voltage and some others likely, What is your settings? Copy and past them back here or post a image..

Just a template, not suggestions. Add or remove anything your bios has/doesnt have

Robust Graphics Booster___________ [Auto]
CPU Clock Ratio ____________ [8]
CPU Host Clock Control_ [Enabled]
CPU Host Frequency (MHz)__________ [450]
PCI Express Frequency (Mhz)_______ [102]
C.I.A. 2__________________________ [Disabled]
System Memory Multiplier (SPD)____ [2.00]
DRAM Timing Selectable_______ SPD __ [Manual]

CAS Latency Time________________ ?
Dram RAS# to CAS# Delay_________ ?
Dram RAS# Precharge Delay_______?
Precharge Delay (tRAS)__________ ?
ACT to ACT Delay (tRRD)_________ ?

(G)MCH OverVoltage Control [+0.1V]
CPU Voltage Control_______ [1.25]

To test your ram, Run ONE stick at a time in default speed of 1066, with memtest86+ newest version>>>
Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

I run a full normal test then about half hour of test #2 then a hour fo Test #5

I will post up the details on my bios setting once I get home and able to look them up. If my ram is in the end damaged will I need to redownload everything since the information itself maybe corrupted?

NO, not likely it just causes errors here and there, your data is 99% likely to be fine

K I would suggest to try this >>>>
k here is what my BIOS settings are
Robust Graphics Booster___________ [Auto]
CPU Clock Ratio ____________ [8]
CPU Host Clock Control_ [Disabled]
CPU Host Frequency (MHz)__________ [266]
PCI Express Frequency (Mhz)_______ [100]
C.I.A. 2__________________________ [Disabled]
System Memory Multiplier (SPD)____ [4.00]
DRAM Timing Selectable_______ SPD __ [Manual]

CAS Latency Time________________ 5
Dram RAS# to CAS# Delay_________ 5
Dram RAS# Precharge Delay_______5
Precharge Delay (tRAS)__________ 15
ACT to ACT Delay (tRRD)_________ [3-4]
Rank Write to READ Delay________ 4 Auto
Write to Precharge Delay_________ 8 Auto
Refresh to ACT Delay______________ 52-62 << Starting at 62 and work your way down
Read to Precharge Delay__________ 4 Auto
Static tRead Value_______________ 6 7-10 <<< Start at 10 and work your way down
Static tRead Phase Adjust________ 0 Auto

System Voltage Control____ [Manual]
DDR2 OverVoltage Control__ [+0.300V]
PCI-E OverVoltage Control_ [Normal]
FSB OverVoltage Control___ [+.1]
(G)MCH OverVoltage Control [+.1 - +.15]
CPU Voltage Control_______ [Normal]

That is just for stable not overclocking. That should fix your ram errors, start with the settings I changed on the higher side. Voltages as well you can bring them down later if you can or want to. It is all safe so dont worry about too much voltage

I have been running this test forever in different combos. It seems that I have errors come up randomly with one pair in there. It wont always recognize, but when I would run extra test like you said it would appear. Right now I am running just 2 gbs thats appear to be working well according to the memtest86+ going to run prime95 over night to see how the systme does as a whole.

I really couldnt say, I see you have a Q9450 but you are using 266 for your FSB when 333 is what it should be by default. So why did you downclock your cpu anyway?

It SHOULD be like this >>>

CPU Clock Ratio ____________ [8]
CPU Host Clock Control_ [Disabled]
CPU Host Frequency (MHz)__________ [333] << Default for 1333 FSB CPU's
PCI Express Frequency (Mhz)_______ [100]
C.I.A. 2__________________________ [Disabled]
System Memory Multiplier (SPD)____ [4.00] <<< and then you would use 3.20 here for 333 above to + 1066

As for the strap +/-/ or A/C like you asked you would just have to test which is best. but I suggest you start all over and go to the main page of your BIOS (Take some pictures of each page first so you remeber your other settings) and choose "Load Optimized Defaults" then save and apply and reboot. Then go back in and set everything over again, except the 266 and such I just mentioned

I think maybe you flashed your BIOS and forgot to do this when you got your Q9450, otherwise your FSB would be 333 not 266
