I have a small problem, well not really a small problem, anyway I realized that I wanted to build a computer on my own. So I bought all the components needed, the spec is as follows: Motherboard: GA-EP45-DS4 Processor: Intel C2D E8500 Memory: 4 CM2X1024-8500C5D Graphics card: GV-R485-512H-B PSU: NeoPower 550 Harddrive: Seagate 250 GB I then installed all the hardware and all the software. It worked fine in the beginning but after a while random reboots started to occur and ultimately it restarts after the boot, either when windows starts to load or even before. Thankful for help. Addier, what do you mean with ACHI? I recognize IDE as the old type of harddrives.
VorLonUK: I changed the value of "tRFC" to 56 and "Performance Enhace" to standard but I still got a blue screen :( |

Moving on from that, i see you are saying Blue screen aswell as reboots - i missed that. I assume you are getting an error message on the blue screen? If so what?

Ok, i haven't changed the hard drive mode so I assume it is standard.
The blue screen say something is wrong with the hard drive or that i got a virus. But earlier today I installed a new hard drive with a fresh windows install so I am a little confused. |

When you say you installed a new Hard drive i assume you did a fresh install with that, ie with the Win XP/Vista installation CD/DVD? Or Did you obtain a new hard drive with windows pre-loaded. And it would be helpful to state exactly what the Blue Screen message says.

Yes i did a fresh install with a Win XP CD but I forgot to mention a vital piece of information. I got the very same error message on the hard drive I used before, so to clarify: this is new hard drive with a fresh Win XP install and I still get the error message therefore it seemed pretty odd to me.
The Blue Screen says: A problem has been detected and to stop further damage the computer has been shut down. Check for viruses on you computer. Remove any newly installed harddrives or harddrive controllers. Check you hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run checkdisk /F and check for harddrive corruption and then restart the computer. Stop 0x0000007v(0XF7A2C524,0XC0000034,0x00000000,0x0000 0000) |
