Default Ga-Ep45-ud3p Bios settings newb Question

Hey, I recently purchased a ep45-ud3p motherboard with a Intel Q6600, and a G'skill 4GB (2 x 2GB) F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ. I hadn't put the parts together because I'm still waiting for my heatsink to come in a day or two. I'm wondering how I should set my bios in preparation for overclocking? Like what features to turn on/off? Should I flash the bios to a f7a?

I would stick to a Non beta BIOS for starters until you are ready to try it out. Disable this for overclocking >>>

Advanced Settings
Limit CPUID Max. to 3.....................: [Disabled]
No-Execute Memory Protect............: [Enabled]
CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E)................: [Disabled]
C2/C2E State Support....................: [Disabled]
x C4/C4E State Support..................: [Disabled]
CPU Thermal Monitor 2(TM2) ...........: [Enabled]
CPU EIST Function.........................: [Disabled]
Virtualization Technology................: [Disabled] Enabled if you use Vmware/Virtual PC

And be sure to change this from Turbo >>>
DRAM Performance Control
Performance Enhance...................: [STANDARD]

Aside from that you will need to manually set your ram voltage and add some MCH Voltage (Maybe 1.24-1.28)

If you need more help once you get started let us know and We can for sure help you out

Hey Lsd I finally got my monitor to work, I don't know if it was because I plugged the 4 pin connector to the atx_12v_2x4 or because I cleared the cmos. I have both my rams plugged in atm. So what other settings do I need to configure?

good starting point here.....

use the search button and peruse the forum for questions simliar to yours.

The forum is overloaded with the same exact questions time after time which could be answered by doing a touch of homework before you make a post.

If I understood what that was saying I wouldn't have asked for direct help, I'm having a hard time understanding the tutorials and yes I have read through them. I would appreciate it if Lsd can help me prepare my bios setting so I can start overclocking. Anyone know should I flash my bios to at least f5 or f7a?

If you are not using AHCI or RAID your drives will be labeled as IDE/PATA not a issue.

Yes you have to connect either a 4Pin ATX 12V or a 8Pin EPS 12V to that for your CPU to get power

I would Qflash to the latest NON Beta BIOS, or Beta if you like. Be sure you load optimized and save/apply/reboot BACK to the BIOS as you will need to set your SATA/Disk settings again >>>
BIOS Flashing - A "How To ~ Qflash Guide"

Here would be optimal settings for your setup >>>

Hey LSD I keep trying to increase the System Memory Multiplier to 4.00A but my bios reboots 2-3 times and say the OC is bad so I lowered it to 3.00a. When I use Intel Burn Test I failed immediately with these settings.

Edit: I updated the bios to f7a, where do you go to see if its updated or not.
Edit#2:I only have 1 4 pin connector connected to the atx_12v_2x4 which should be connected with a 8 pin connector. I have two 4pins to connect to it and only one fits, the other one doesnt seem to match so I didn't plug it in. Could it be because of that I can't seem to get my system stable?
