Am I right in thinking that when we upgrade to a new BIOS we lose all our saved profiles.. and not only that but from what I've read you will need to retry all profiles as the voltages needed for stability can change between BIOS levels.

Oh, believe me I have tried skew...in fact just tried the ones you mention in your Sig...failed Prime Large after 45mins.

Yes you are correct on the profiles, but you can always go back to F9 should you ever need to.

Before you flash to a newer bios, save your current bios settings to a floppy, usb, fat16 or fat32 drive. This way you can restore all your previous settings with the previous bios version. This is done using F11 and F12 at the main bios screen.

You misunderstood post #474.
Using this procedure will restore your previous bios version along with all your saved profiles.
This technique will NOT restore your saved profiles with the newer or older bios version.

Someday I hope to be considered one of the more educated guys here.

I would recommend writing settings down and restoring them manually. There may be changes to the BIOS in regards to hidden settings as well as tuning values that Auto sets. If you load an old profile you would be over riding these possible improvements.

There is also a warning on screen recommending not to load a priofile from a previous version.

I'm not saying you'll do any damage, but I always make fresh profiles of stock, 3GHz, 3.4GHz, 3.6GHz and 3.9GHz when I flash to a new version.

Edit*** just noticed the "with reflashing back to previous BIOS". Apologies!
