GA-MA785GM-US2H first boot issues Quote:
Following the above suggestions, cleared CMOS. Powered up, went into BIOS and set Boot to HDD, Optimized settings, and set date. F10 out of BIOS, rebooted and I answered "Y" to AHCI. I again stalled a DMI pool. Repeated this process 4 times, can't get pass "Verifying DMI Pool Data". Should I clear CMOS, Powerup, Push F12, select "Boot from DVD/CD" and insert w7 and start w7 install from the beginning?? IF YES ... At which w7/auto restart's should I ... Continue to hit F12, set to HDD OR Hit "Delete" and reset BIOS to proper/final settings ???? Thanks Dennis L Last edited by bluechipwi; 11-08-2009 at 10:03 PM. |

Clear CMOS Powerup - F12 - run DVD/w7 "Clean install" disk This will auto reformat C/partition. When above process continues through moving files/expanding install files to HDD and it goes into it's FIRST Auto-Restart, What do I do .... ?? Hit F12 - boot from HDD ??? OR Hit "Delete" and configure BIOS properly ??? |

Are you installing to a RAID-0, or a single HDD? Do you have a floppy drive? You will want to set your DVD as your second boot device with Windows 7? Set your HDD as your first boot device. Disconnect the Floppy drive and disable it in bios and be sure the boot order does not contain a floppy drive. Install Windows When it reboots let it boot to the harddrive. I would be sure to diconnect any extra USB devices.

Floppy = NO Installed = 1x 500GB HDD and 1x CD/DVD reader/burner - Both SATA I just "Cleared CMOS" When I power up, I get a "CMOS checksum error - Defaults Loaded" halt screen. Should I accept "Default" or "Last Known Good" boot record", which I have none. Update message I selected "Default", then went into BIOS, but BIOS is selecting IDE. Does NOT see CD/DVD burner for boot choice. I appear to be in a loop. After "Clearing CMOS", I need to get into BIOS, but always get the CMOS Checksum error halt screen. |

When you get the CMOS Checksum error halt screen wait for your backup bios to flash your initial bios. Don't forget you have a dual bios and the backup bios should automatically flash the initial bios
Connect your SATA DVD on SATA port SATA2_5 on your motherboard and in bios set the SATA2_4/5 to IDE Set as follows. Code:
Integrated Peripherals OnChip IDE Channel [Enabled] OnChip SATA Controller [Enabled] OnChip SATA Type [NaiveIDE] x OnChip SATA Port4/5 Type IDE Onboard LAN Function [Enabled] Onboard LAN Boot ROM [Disabled] } SMART LAN [Press Enter] Onboard Audio Function [Enabled] Onboard 1394 Function [Enabled] OnChip USB Controller [Enabled] USB EHCI Controller [Enabled] USB Keyboard Support [Enabled] USB Mouse Support [Disabled] Legacy USB storage detect [Enabled] Onboard Serial Port 1 [3F8/IRQ4] Onboard Parallel Port [378/IRQ7] Parallel Port Mode [SPP] x ECP Mode Use DMA 3

When this screen is issued, it has a 10 second timer. It will automatically load "default settings". I hit a key to break out of the timer. I've sat at that screen a couple of times for 5 - 10 minutes, nothing happened. Backup BIOS is questionable .. I NEVER had a propery/successful boot since processing phase 1 of installing w7. Immediately after 1st auto-boot, system should look to HDD to continue the install .. which never occurred because of the "Verifying DMI Pool Data" ... which started this loop of clearing CMOS / power up / halt screen, etc. ....
Question .. I know I'm a new member, but how many post do I need until I no longer get asked "Random question" .. some what pesty. |

I can see I am not helping here. I installed Windows 7 on several systems without the above issues. I don't use SATA DVD-ROMS
You can RMA your motherboard directly to Gigabyte if you wish. Gigabyte's contact information is in the back of your motherboard manual. If the bios is faulty they will fix it, and send it back to you. I personally would try a IDE type DVD first though. Set the bios to optimized default. Reboot then check boot order in bios. I am sorry if questions seem pesty. I have very little information about your system or cituation, except what you provided above. I was only trying to help.

Powered up At halt screen, let BIOS countdown, I assume it reloaded from BIOS2 backup - System self-booted. On boot, went into BIOS - Integrated Peripherals . My CD/DVD has always been at Sata2_5. So only setting to change was "x onchip Sata Port 4/5". Changed it to "IDE". All our setting are now the same. F10 BIOS On reboot, now CD/DVD is no longer listed. When tapping F12 to boot from burner (boot from w7 install disk), it is NOT in selection list to start over on the install. This is the first time I've worked with Gigabyte mobo ... and I bought 2x --- 1 for WHS and other for my daughters new build. My last build a long year ago was Abit IP 35 Pro - e8400 cpu, but their no longer in mobo business ... had no issues when installing OS and drivers. |

Guys, I'm dead in the water. Have 4x w7 install attempts halt at the "Verifying DMI Pool Data" after 1st level w7 "auto reboot". At this point I need to start with a fresh MOBO. If I disconnect HDD and burner, "clear CMOS", power up, will this return ALL mobo/BIOS settings back to day 1 out of the box ??
If Yes ... Re-connect HDD and burner. Power up ... and do what ... step by step. Sorry guys, hate to be a pain, but I'm at lost what to do next. Thanks Dennis L |
