This will show your cpu specs, including the stepping and revision numbers. The Intel spec finder shows two Q6600 models, with core stepping = B3 or G0. cpuz displays stepping and revision info.

When Prime is not running it appears that my temps are much cooler. (might be more of a system load thing).

In this document it is said that TJmax for Q6000 series is 90c and the RealTemp you are using uses 100c so it might be they are actually 10c lower. Get the latest RealTemp or CoreTemp and see what they give.

60c idle temps are not exactly cool temps. Judging by your system temps the ambiant must be quitw low.
Did you check yhat the heat sink is seated properly, and what thermal paste do you use?

I will double check my heat sink this weekend and post back. I did not use any thermal paste, as I was told the way heat sink that came with my processor would suffice. Do you recommend a particular kind? Also should I be using some type of cooler on my ram? Which direction should the fans be blowing on my case?

Of course it is needed, Arctic Silver 5 is good and popular and not expensive, 3.5gr would last for several times, though there are better and more expensive thermal compunds. Whichever you buy, follow the manufacturer instructions on how to apply it. I assume your memory has a metal HS on it, 1GB in normal conditions shouldn't need any extra cooling as long the airflow inside the case is good.

The heatsink that comes with the Q6600 does not come with paste on it, it is more fabric like.

Never seen one so I wouldn't know. My C2D came with some white stuff on it.
Anyway thermal compund must be cleaned and reapplied each time the heatsink is removed.
