I don't have any of the files listed in your post on my msdos bootable floppies. If I added up the file sizes correctly, those files are using a total of 352KB. My older CRT and current LCD monitors work fine without any of your listed files on my W98se created boot disks.

You'll need to view/edit the config.sys and autoexec.bat files to remove any references to these soon to be deleted files.

When I go through the properties option that is where it shows that 555kb has been used. So I should follow the instructions for the other files and just remove all those files that are currently on my disk?

It looks like your windows Folder Options are set to:
- Do not show hidden files and folders
- Hide file extensions for known file types
- Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)

This is why some of the o/s files are not displayed in your list of files.
Delete all 10 files you listed in post #71.
From the window that shows the contents for your A: drive, click on Folder Options, click the View tab and then:
- click Show hidden files and folders
- uncheck Hide file extensions for known file types
- uncheck Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
- click the OK tab

Now you will see the previously hidden operating system files and can verify how much space these files occupy.
Edit the CONFIG.sys and AUTOEXEC.bat files with Notepad and remove all references to all the deleted o/s files. When you save the file, make sure that the file extension for each file is unchanged and that the files are NOT saved with a .txt file extension.

If you have any questions about the contents of these two files, cut and paste their contents to your next post and we'll advise further.

I opened both CONFIG.sys and AUTOEXEC.bat in notepad and neither one showed any content.

You can delete all the files you listed. Does that leave enough free space?
