If the stick of RAM is factory stickered with DDR-800 and the needed timings then it's probably not fake.
I've had several different kits of both DDR and DDR2 with no JEDEC profile for their rated max speed. These kits include Corsair XMS Extreme DDR-500 (had only 133 and 200 JEDEC in SPD) Hynix generic DDR2-800 kit (had only 667 JEDEC in SPD) and Samsung DDR2 800 (again, only 667 in the SPD). Some manufacturers assemble and program the modules before speed binning them, and this is why there is no official SPD. Other times 667 kits have been used from before 800 was a recognised standard. On re-testing, the manufacturer may have found them worthy of the newer 800 standard and stickered them as such. It does mean that one has to set these sticks up manually as auto will under clock them.

When you mentioned the "other stick", it's not clear to me whether this is a third stick of ram, or if you just had the two different brand ram sticks.

Sorry for not posting long time about this issue.
I tested the card on 4 different platforms : 1.mine 2.ECS P45 , Q8200 , 2x2GB A-Data DDR2 800 , Chieftec 450W 3.MSI P43 , Q6600 , 2x2GB Apacer DDR2 800 , CoolerMaster 850W 4.Nvidia 6100 platform , AMD CPU ,some ram , Generic Delux 500W (real power around 250-300) - i dont have all the info on this one because the testing was done in the service centre. The problem occured only on the intel platforms ,on the nvidia which was tested in the service centre they didnt have the issue as i was told.So i guess it was a faulty card (it couldnt be that whole series is incompatible with intel). Anyway i resolved the issue by exchanging the card to ATI 4850(they didnt have GTS250 on stock).Sure it is a little step down ,but got some money back to celebrate :). Once again thank you all for the effort and suggestions provided. P.S. to the moderators Can you please change the name of the thread to "screen goes blank during games" , i think this way it will be more easy to find the thread if someone has a similar issue ,at least thats what i searched for on google. |

The 4850 isn't a step down. They're equal in power, with the 4850 out performing the GTS 250 in some games and visa versa. The GTS 250 is based on a 2007 GPU design. NVidia keep making tiny changes to it and re-branding it to fool people into thinking they're getting new tech.
The only games the GTS beats the 4850 in are mostly "The Way it's Meant to be Played" titles where NVidia gave extra help to the developers to optimise their code for NVidia hardware. Good to hear you have solved the problem.

Ok ok ,calm down :).I know that GTS250=9800GTX+.As far as i know GTS250 is somewhere between 4850 and 4870.The thing is the most games i play are the "way they're ment to be played" and thats the reason its a step down for me.

4850 = GTS 250. a 4870 is a direct competitor to a GTX 260, again beating it in some and loosing out in others. the latter released 4890 was meant to be a match for the GTX 275. Again it has good games and bad ones. I used to play alot of GRID, and my 4850 (with Crossfire turned off) out paced the GTS 250 by a good 15 FPS. I did get better FPS in Crysis with the GTS, but only in peak FPS, minimum FPS stayed the same really.
My post wasn't intended to be a fan boy defence of ATI in any way, I assure you. ![]() ATI stopped competing with NVidia for top spot in an all out performance war a while ago. Seems they sensibly realised that price to performance ratio was much more important. their higher end 4890 was about 90% of a GTX 285 for two thirds the price, which is a fantastic deal. They again have the most powerful single GPU on the market with the 5870, but ofc, NVidia's GTX 300 cards will probably be a little faster. The price will no doubt be higher too. All said and done, "The way it's Meant to be Played" is little more than a gimmic. If it were functioning as intended then every single TWIMTBP game would run better on NVidia hardware. Far Cry 2 for example is a TWIMTBP certified game, yet it consistently performs better on equiv. ATI hardware. Fallout 3 also universally performs better on ATI hardware and is a TWIMTBP game. It means about as much as when Nintendo used to mark every single game as "Official Nintendo Seal of Quality". It's a pure marketing tool to either make people think they "need" NVidia hardware and a subliminal way to get their brand into your head. What card will I upgrade to next? I'm not sure. Which ever card I can afford and the one that gives the most performance for that sum. If it's Nvidia, fine, if it's ATI, also fine. I certainly won't let a made up marketing tool like TWIMTBP sway me, nor the next to useless PhysX, or ATI's Eyefinity.
