Default Re: Gigabyte Latest BIOS

Use bios 7c or 8b, most are reporting those work with S3, and earlier bioses do not.

I use S3 with EIST/C1E off (off or on makes no difference on mine) and Hyperthreading is on (off or on makes no difference on mine). I am using ahci, but worked fine with ide on mine as well.

Only thing I did have to do with windows 7 RC 1 is go to advance power options under power options>>change plan settings>>advance power options and set require password upon wakeup to -no-.

Also when going from earlier bios where S3 does not work to one that does, for some reason sometimes I have to clear cmos once...then usual load optimal defaults, then load my settings...to get S3 to work, but then works flawlessly.

The annoying 8 second delay of dots where the hard drive search occurs on unmodded bios 8b with OLD AHCI ROM is no longer tolerabe, now that I have been spoiled with the better ahci rom......just would like all future bioses to have the new ahci rom...if someone would pass along the request I would appreciate it.
Ah the new AHCI ROM takes away that annoying wait!?! I would also like this for the EX58-UD4P :)

Excellent I will do that right away...
What version of the Bios are you using? and do you have a download link to that version (Somehow the checksum on these Bios that schould be the same is different?) so would like to get a link that you are using with S3

Also what driver did you use for the AHCI the Native Windows 7 driver or the one from the Intel chipset drivers?
Or did you use ACHI on the 4 port sata with the Gigabyte driver sata II ?

People have ben reporting that only the OLD Sata II is working and that the Intel RAID/AHCI didnt work with S3?

Thanks for the quick answer!

noangels post with bios 8b, someone just reposted a few ago..checksum on it is A600, on 8b without modded bios with new ahci rom checksum is A900 or something like that, but different.
http://forums.tweaktown.com/298926-post947.html

I loaded intel newest ich10 drivers for ahci prior to loading OS, so S3 is working fine with the newest intel achi drivers on mine.

my gb sata is disabled in bios, I think that speeds up boot process as well since it does not look for GB sata, and I dont have anything plugged into gb, 3 hd and 1 dvd all plugged into intel.

here is storage driver from intel file and date info from ini

i have no problems with s3 in win7 7127 (also worked in the release candidate build 7100) and the built in ahci drivers for the intel ports (hpet 64bit and eist enabled)

i do get the HAL error messages in the event viewer when the system goes to sleep, but it doesn't seem to affect the stability

also, i have to go to the device manager>realtek ethernet>power management, and remove the tick in the box "Allow this device to wake the computer" otherwise my system powers up again in a minute or so
