Thanks for the help--I am using IDE mode also--but you still need to detect drives--maybe you could post your settings?

Post Re: Gigabyte Latest BIOS

I just tried reloading 9B again & no matter what setting I use I get a MB loop--right after reported "POOL--success!!" the system will reboot. As soon as I revert back to 9A, I get a normal load to my bootloader.

Update: Reinstalling windows fixed it, AHCI mode boots fine now.

Question: should I install the intel matrix storage or the intel inf chipset driver is enough? I don't use raid

Try to reinstall your windows with F9b, I'm sure it will fix the bootloader problem, I had same problem when I enabled AHCI, but reinstalling windows fixed it

Well---interesting idea, but I am a Linux user---so either the new AHCI is not compatible with Linux or I'm having a problem with my CPU--reading back in the posts, I see someone else having a problem with one of the older i7 cpus & I am using bleeding edge Linux---so I'm willing to bet on a cpu compatibility problem----so I wait
