So it was ok in F9c then? Is it working if EIST is enabled? Just checking to see if you tested that or not before you went back.

The CAS 4 issue on resume is Intel Chipset related and this will be resolved upon chipset revision. I read that in the change log a while back, just so you know before you also realize and report that as an issue. While I am not sure that CAS 4 is really loaded/used it is reported upon resume due to an issue within the chipset itself.

I will send in a report, but it will be a few weeks. You can forward the Bug to Janus, his email is in this thread 3-4 post
Welcome to GIGABYTE Technical Support!
Yeah S3 works perfect with f9c even with eist and everything enabled. So far f9c is the most solid bios for the ex58-ud4p.

Yes, he knows. He was showing me two bugs at once. The last one is a new bug with his BIOS, nothing to do with the bug mentioned at JZ

Ohh really, I have not had any issues since F7e and F8a, I am of course using F9c now though because I need to keep using it until I am done collecting Data on a review I am working on.

Then I will be moving to F10a. I don't use sleep or EIST/C1E so I am sure F10a will be fine with me, I do test S3 in them all thought just so I know if it is ok or not so I can advise others. So far I have had no S3 issues 200-220 Blck with F7e-F9c, other than the Intel Chipset caused CAS 4 on resume. Ohh and I do believe of course the turbo feature is lost on resume (On all of those BIOS Mentioned), but that is easily enabled anytime with i7 Turbo anyway for those who use S3

I thought so about CPU-z, thanks for letting us know. S3 bug is related to CPU-z? How?

Hey, how long did you have to wait to catch x22 multi on 920? C1E and C3/5/6 enabled, and EIST or which combination?

Thanks for stopping in, hope to hear a reply from you on the PM I sent. Thanks

I know f8 that shipped with my board would not come out of s3 with any kind of OC. It would with f9a-f9b but both had the turbo annoyance and funny stuff with eist. Then in f9d-f9 usb mice and keyboards won't work and now with 10a some of the old s3 probs have creeped back. In f9c there is no loss of turbo or issues with eist and sleep nor any other issues I have found or heard of. Sure there are workarounds for all these problems but I think I am pretty correct in saying f9c is the least buggy and most solid bios for the ud4p right now.

That leads me to my next thought: Just WTF is it that GB is doing there? If anyone has an 'in' with these guys that write and test these BIOSs at GB can you please tell them to get their $h1t straight PLEASE. I help run a lab at my job where we test software and hardware for compatibility before it hits our enterprise and I might be able to offer them some guidelines to use because it's fairly obvious to me and everyone else here that they are not testing these BIOSs before they release them and they have no testing methodology to make sure that new fixes do not make old problem creep back to life. Sheesh.

Lsdmeasap: When you say that 10A causes CAS4 on return from S3 are you saying the ram goes from CAS8 to CAS4 at the same clocks?? How would it even ever resume from that without locking the machine up?

I can resume from S3 sleep with F7e onwards using 220-222+ Blck. I have not yet tested F10a though, but the previous ones I mention are fine for S3. I do mean Beta's ONLY, I do not ever use the Final's, only for short tests and rarely

You may be right about F9c, I have been using it for quite some time now and ran MANY Tests with various hardware for some reviews i am working on and have had no issues. Even used that BIOS for Dry Ice runs 2-3 times and could do 239 Blck and 5Ghz with it, so it IS GOOD for sure.

I use USB to PS/2 adapters so I don't see the USB Issues with F9c. I would like to test the new beta and final though as I am looking forward to finally being able to use B2B timings.

About the new beta, I will test this soon and I will report my findings here and also let Taiwan know as well about the issues so it can maybe be fixed this next time around.

Guys, sadly I bet BIOS will start slowing for X58 now as soon as X58A and P55 is released as they will be so busy with those, so Beta's likely wont be as often as they have been here lately.

@J0nX

ALL BIOS that can resume from S3 properly will have the CAS 4 bug, it is a chipset bug and all brands will have this issue.

Yes, any setting upon resume will be CAS 4. And I am not sure how the system resumes or runs like that? It may be only a partial reporting error, and maybe CAS 4 is not fully loaded, but that is what shows up and I do think it is very unstable. I don't use S3 myself so I do not ever test this. I only test each BIOS for the ability to enter and resume from S3 and stock and high clocks, then I disable the setting and resume my duties :)
