I'm running the GA-EX58-UD3R LGA 1366 with Core i7 920 and 64-bit Windows 7, and I have enabled the Virtualization Technology option in the BIOS, but Windows and all my applications keep on saying that it's not on. The Hardware Assistance Virtualization Detection Tool says: Quote:

on the main page read on how to safely flash using q-flash and a memory stick, dont use @bios as if it goes wrong it will brick your motherboard and it will need rma'ing....theres also a list of latest gigabyte bios on the main page too, just select one for your board and update it,beta bios's are fine to use so dont worry i run my pc 24 hours a day on beta bios with no trouble

Fair enough. How do I found out the exact version of my motherboard? I've narrowed it down to the following options:
I can't figure out whether my motherboard is rev. 1.0 or rev. 1.6. |

do you have cpuid? download it from overclocking tools on main page and click motherboard it should tell you what revision on there
http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/7/...cpuz_152_6.zip 32bit http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpuz/cpuz64_152.zip 64 bit

I couldn't find the revision number with either of the tools you provided, but they did tell me my current BIOS was version F1. I noticed that the rev. 1.0 BIOS versions were all F then a number while the rev. 1.6 BIOS versions were all F then a letter. Also, to confirm, I looked at the physical motherboard, and it said in really small hard to find text, Made in Taiwan rev. 1.0. So I downloaded F8, and I installed it through the BIOS. All is fine now. Windows recognizes the Virtualization Technology. Thanks for your help!

You should find your mobo's revision # in the lower left (bottom rear) corner.
It will probably say REV: 1.?

Loading OPTIMIZED bios defaults is REQUIRED before you tweak your bios settings.
This includes new system setups and immediately after flashing your bios!!! |
