Default looking for 5ghz with q9650 & ep45-ud3r

hi all, just purchased some new gear and looking to push it as far as it will go. Except im used to the asus rampage bios, the gigabyte bios is a little different to me, so im looking for a little help with voltage terms and what they mean and stuff like that. Im assuming the mch is the nb and the ich is the sb. the main thing im havin trouble with is the strap there's some extra option to change the divider or something i dont understand that.i would like to be a little clearer on what the strap divider or whatever that option is, just bought the cpu and board ,been usin asus rampage formula for the last year, so i spose im a little spoiled when it comes to bios options, so heres my rigs specs.

q9650 @ 4.5 prime stable -42 at full load
ep45-ud3r
4x1gb team xtreem ddr2 1300
cooling: custom built phase change -51 @ idle -39 @ full load with intel burn test

edit: also this is my first oc on a quad i had an 8400 wolfdale before, so any recomendations regarding bios settings are welcome.

Hes on phase change, and if he can get 4.5GHz stable then i'm sure he'll at least get a 5.0GHz screenshot

How does that relate to the original topic?

this is the original topic..
Forum here is more graduated to air/perhaps some water cooling.
Mbrd in a plastic bag inside a refrigerator icebox /superclocking isnt really here,
Its more a what can I get out of my mbrd /cpu /memory to use every day type forum.

I thinnk I could get a cpu-z 3.6 validation if i worked at it.whoop de doo.

What I mean is the original poster is wasting his time here looking for settings, theres a huge thread on xtreme overclockers with lots of liquid cooled and phase overclockers for EP45-UD3 .
Aside from that I think the link is kind of funny.

if you took the time to read i didnt ask for settings, i simply asked for some explanation of some of the bios options, as this bios is new to me.

Your best bet would be to list the bios settings that aren't clear (from an Asus point of view), as the GB mobo manual is useless in their explanations.

As an example, CPU Termination = VTT. (maybe you knew that already)

Check out the Memory Timings Explained W/ Suggested Timings & Memset VS. BIOS guide and ** How to setup MCH GTL Ref Voltages Vs. EasyTune **

Loading OPTIMIZED bios defaults is REQUIRED before you tweak your bios settings.
This includes new system setups and immediately after flashing your bios!!!

ok well i been playin around in the bios and figured out most things, some things are still new.

Like the mch/dram referance, i dont know what it is or even what to set it at = auto. And the dram term, same deal.

Is dram term useful along with dram voltage while over clocking memory? I dont think my previos bios had those settings or maybe just never noticed.

i think i got my gtls pretty close, i still could drop some voltages but im not done tryin to push it yet.

MCH Dram Ref and MCH Dram Term should be 50% of your Ram voltage. Some say this is too much, others disagree of course. So that tinkering would all be up to you, if you want to deviate from the 50% set your ram voltage to 1.8 and then adjust the MCH/Dram ref and then raise Dram back up to what you wanted to use.

I leave them on Auto, but pushing 5Ghz I could not even begin to advise you on what you may need, sorry! I wish I could better help with that, but sadly I have never seen 5Ghz myself

I can help you if you need any other of the BIOS terms translated into other terms if you like, let me know.

If you did not read the above guide, you do need to know this at least >>

CPU Termination (Vtt) Automatically changes the following if manually set >>>

CPU Reference Voltage (.63% of Default Vtt/1.20) .76 ET
CPU Reference2 Voltage (.67% of Default Vtt/1.20) .80 ET
MCH Reference Voltage (.63% of Default Vtt/1.20) .76 ET

DRAM Voltage Automatically changes the following if manually set >>>

MCH/DRAM Reference Voltage (.50% of Default Dram Voltage)
DRAM Termination Voltage (.50% of Default Dram Voltage)
Channel A Reference Voltage (.50% of Default Dram Voltage)
Channel B Reference Voltage (.50% of Default Dram Voltage)
