Default MA78G-DS3H, ver1.0, F3 getting ACPI_PSS error trying to install Ubuntu

Like the title says, I have MA78G-DS3H, ver1.0 with F3 bios in my desktop and it is not letting me try the live environment or install Ubuntu 9.10 or 9.04. It comes down to some powernow-K8 ACPI_PSS error.

Does that mean the board is useless for Linux? Did Gigabyte made it on purpose "Windows only"?

Have been googling around for a while, including Ubuntu forums, but I can't seem to find any fix. Is there such?

Thanks for any advice. I am really looking forward to Ubuntu.
