Have you tried the 2.0B multi? Maybe when you et your GSkill, you may get better results on a multi higher than 1:1.

Default Re: New Build GA-EP45-DS3 + Q9550

OK I have a question. As the Lian Li PC-7F Chassis has a bottom mounted PSU Slot would it be better to mount my Gigabyte ODIN GT PSU Upside down as to suck hot air from the GPU out of the case or would this disrupt the air flow from intake to exhaust. The Case has Slighty raised approx 1cm rails that the PSU sits on so the fan on the PSU Shouldnt starve should it if I mount the right way up??????

Well the G.Skill F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK made no difference. I set the memory Multi up to 2.66C with Q9550 @ 400X8.5 and 2v on the memory and it froze in Prime 95 after about 4 minutes like any other time. Max Temp 52c?? So if anyone could suggest something that would be cool. I dont know what the MCH thing is so Im not going to play with anything till LSD or Psycho tell me to.

When I got my mobo I went strait to OC it to 333MHz, because my previous ASUS P5K SE did it without a hassle, which of course did not work at all. Then I did some reading in the forum and managed to get it going but it failed stress tests pretty quick.
Then I decided to go back to stock clock, one hour OCCT passed but ORTHOS failed within half an hour. Took a lot of reading in this forum, to get it stable. The changes are indeed minor but apperantly essential.

I'd say start at stock and only after you make sure it runs smoothly start messing around.

As for the MCHm and DRAM settings in general, read this post if you haven't yet.

Remember, knowledge is power.

Default Re: New Build GA-EP45-DS3 + Q9550

Well Im ready to just F**ing smash the lot and bin it. I cant get it to prime without errors on all 4 threads within minutes with this new ram (everything @ stock speeds) ram at 2.1v and Ive just competed the first build with X48-ds5 +Q9550 + Noctua in the New Lian Li case and the Fu.king temps are frozen. All for cores man in real temp are no longer moving I was watching them when they stopped. Ive restarted and shi.t and nothing. Idont know wtf is going on. Burn the lot I say.

Edit: Well I prime 95'd it some more and the temp sensors have come good. I think. Temps are like low 40's after 20 minutes of prime. Also for some reason prime is now going fine without errors I havent really changed anything except put the whole system in a new case. I didnt remove the CPU just changed coolers and I didnt remove the ram so I dont know why its all good but oh well lets see. I am a little concered though as in CPU-z its showing my CPU voltage dropping to 1.200v a lot while running prime. That then other times its sitting @ 1.216v. Im not over confident that this ODIN GT is behaving as it should as I noticed when the HDD spinn up the fan LED's dimm for a sec. Anyway while everything is working @ stock I guess im kinda happy. I will try to overclock it again tommorrow and see what happens.

One thing that I have to mention is the Noctua NH-U12P is unreal. Cores are dipping into the 39C while under 99% load in Prime 95 so Im pretty happy with that. Im not sure if its the CPU fan or the Rear Case fan on this PC-7F but one of them is far from silent. Aside from a little noise (im running it @ 1300RPM) it was a complete ass to assemble. Once on it should be solid enough but them damm little screws. a pain. Anyway finger crossed for some sick as preformance from this new build. Ive decided to run the HD4850 in this machine and Ill just get another 4850 for the "Gaming" rig for now as If I went anything else I would probably have to get a new PSU as well and Im already gunna get devorcied for playing with my new bits all night so no. Ill leave this sucker prime over night and see what happens.
