What post by me?

Just chiming in here guys, nice chat on PSU's you got going.

Just thought I would rimind you that if you do get your new drive for RAID and the Firmware does not match up you can always flash it to the one you want (I'd flash whichever drive has the older with newer firmware)

Hey LSD Nice to see you around. Just some post somewere about Mosfet Heat sinks that you can stick on. Yeah I know I could flash the firmware but I have an interesting situation. I have 2 X 1tb seagate ST3100333AS drives and one has the "latest" Firmware on there website which fixes the "bricking" issue they "had". And the newer of the two drives has some completely different not on any website firmware version that i cant find anything about. So I just ordered a 3rd one from the place I got the last one so hopefully it will have the same firmware and were good to go. I cant remember the versions but Ill post on it later maybe. Im so excited.

Ohh, I looked a few posts back trying to figure out what you was referring too, but guess not far enough. See what happens when I am gone, even I am lost

Ahh well you can likely still just flash them all with the newer firmware. I just flashed my 500GB with the (FIX IT) firmware even though the serial lookup thing said the drive was not affected by the "Issue"

If you need some help finding out about this mysterious firmware let me know and post the Firmware name and I'll have a look around with you. It was likely just some in between firmware though, after the "Issue" Before the "Fix"

Ohh hey, if you do need some info/links to Mosfet sinks let me know and I can link you up to a few nice ones.

Tell me, do you think I will need additional heat sinkage on the EP45-DS3 board running XMS2 800 and E8500 E0 @ 400X9.5? @1.25v

Yeah I cant find it. I know that one had the SD15 but its now like SD16B or something and the other was something like C16A or something yeah. If that helps.

Ok So Im new @ RAID. I have no IDEA how to set it up. I can probably work out the windows side of it, put RAID drivers on USB load when going to install windows. Check. But what about setting it up for RAID 1 in the BIOS? And formatting the drives. Should I do a "deep" format that I have heard of? If so How the hell do I do that. I dont like the way Vista onwards formats drives it toooo quick. lol.

Ah Hu I Found it LSDMEASAP. The Older drive has the SD1B Firmware which is the "latest" version I can find on the Seagate website. The Newer Drive has CC1F firmware?? IDK they both work but I want to know which is the one I should be going with? Do you have the resources to find out more info LSD?

I found some good info for setting up a RAID. I didnt realise it was soo easy. Looks like its gunna be sweet.

nice build specs! your getting the same ram as me too :) the G.skills 4GB! make sure you crank the voltage up to 2.00v to get em running properly. bios on auto will give em 1.8v, but if you go in to the G/skills forusm the first thing they tell u is crank it up to 2.00 v which is within the 2.0-2.1v specs given by them.

i had a look at my CPU its a C1 would be interesting to see if we could both get our CPUs to the magical 4Ghz mark! :)

im still deciding on the aftermarket cooler, its between the ocz vendetta 2, thermalright and noctua

Hey elite786, Yeah I know the G'Skill needs a little more omphff. If you want my 2 cents worth I would get the Noctua. The one im Getting as I do serious researching before I buy anything and read like all the reviews and talk to people that have em and stuff and not only does it cool like awesome but its quiet. its not as "Pretty" as some others buy I HATE clear windows cases so its not an issue. Theres nothing wrong with the C1 Stepping Q9550.

So basically my everyday replacement PC is turning into my Hard Core Kick ass PC which pretty much leave my Christmas Build PC obsolete. But I will keep the Good Graphics card in with the E8500 because I will still use it as my gaming computer because its hooked up to the 32in LCD. Im going to be laughing when I crank this new Quad Core up on a fresh install of Windows 7 64bit. Its going to encode my DVD's so quick. My Pentium D 950 Does 2hours of Video in about 45Minutes. My C2D E8500 does it in about 20minutes so im hoping that Nero and the like will utilise the quad cores????????????????? This is the bit I hate. I have all the bits coming from like 4 different shops from all over the country and they will all arrive at different times which sucks. Im hoping all before the weekend.
