Question OCing a Q9550 on a GA-EP45-DS3R

hello everyone. first post here. have done some looking around before i have decided to start this thread. i havent seen any others with such related issue. im fairly new to the building/ocing world been at it about a year.
ive just gotten me a nice Q9550 cpu. i have the gigabyte ga-ep45-ds3r mobo. i have been able to get the OC upto 3.83ghz. it is a very nice OC but i want more 4.1- 4.3ghz. i just dont think this board will let me. or i dont knwo enough to get it there as of yet.
the only thing i have tweaked is my vcore,mch,and mem volts.

here is my system

GA-EP45-DS3R 1.0rev
Q9550 @ 3.61ghzSLB8V
1.29vcore in bios
Batch #L846B715
Corsair Dominator DDR2 1066
OCZ Vendetta 2 with 120mm fan
Corsair TX650w PSU with a 120mm fan
Nvidia GeForce 7600gt with a 60mm fan
CM RC690 6 case FANS 5x120mm 1x140mm

vcor in bios is set at 1.29
mch(which is NB right) is set at 1.28v
mem volts are at + .3v puting my mem at 2.1v
ive heard alot of people talk about turning off LLC or turning it on.
and some talking about adjusting the GTL's???
im not familure with what all this does or if this boad can do those things. so im asking for some help learning this board and what it can and cant do..

thanks alot.
rob.

Post your current full settings using the template in this post or the one below it. Setting that do not apply to your board you can delete.

I have no idea how high those quads clock, but IMO it is unlikely to get 4GHz+ on air with a quad. What are your current load temps and what of load is it?

Default Re: OCing a Q9550 on a GA-EP45-DS3R

CPU = Q9550 EO
Motherboard = GA-EP45-DS3R, REV 1.0
BIOS Version =F10
Ram = CORSAIR DDR2 1066(PC8500) 2X1GB 5-5-5-18

i know that off the top of my head. as for the rest i dont know how to get all that infor from my bios in that scrollable window like it is.

as for how high of a OC for the Q9550 EO i know alot of people who have the UD3P mobo they are getting 4.0-4.5ghz on air. more toward the 4.2ghz on a average.

i will try and figure out how to get all that other info tonight when i get home from work.

Copy the template from the link and past it into note pad. save that to your desktop. print out if need or get a piece of paper. reboot renter bios and fill in your specs. exit reboot into windows fill in what you copied from your bios and then copy and past into here between these [code] copy here [/ code]. That will make it have its on window like appearance. Sorry but that is the only way to get that info. You can get some info from either ET6, Memset, CPu-z but they will sometimes report wrong values.

Also depending how good your HS is and how well that board will overclock but you might wanna read this thread if you havent already q9550-ud3p-part-deux-quest-500-fsb Q9550 is a good overclocker but all depends on your equipment. Like said above post what ever settings your having trouble getting stable and/or your current settings.

something interesting here. i jsut got my corsair ddr2 1066 mem about 2 weeks ago. i dont have them OC'd any, but the past 3 days it has shut down 3 times rebooting just fine. i get the error saying windows has recovered from a serious error(bsod) but it dont blue screen on me just shuts down and fires back up...... could this be a memory problem?

i havent gone into bios yet to get all the info from the mobo for he OC. i had some mushkin ddr2 800(4-5-4-11) in it and ran fine. just wonder if this is caused from the mem or the CPU oc???? im at work now so there aint much i can do to it right now.

Could be that they need some tweaking to be stable.
Often some changes need to be made to MCH Core for more than 1x2GB of memory.
Usually it will stabilize with MCH Core in the range of 1.2-1.26v, In less common case less than the default is needed 1.05-0.95v.
Too much is not good either so best is to increase it one step at a time starting with 1.2v and run Memtest86+ for several hours before booting to windows, then a nightly run of customized Prime95 not in=place large FFT torture will ensure stability with higher level of certainty.

thats funny you say that about to much MCH, cause i think i have mine right now at 1.3-1.32 maybe 1.28 not 100% sure but i know its not at 1.2.
with the help so far here and from the other thread i linked this one to there is alot of info there that is broken down real easy to understand. im going to go back into it and start from the begining and go from there. it is alot differnet to OCing a quad vs. a c2d(which i had a E8400 that this Q9550 replaced.)
