Ahh ok. Well that is pretty bad if it wont run at the above suggested loose timings.

Hmm, I would suggest a GA-P35-DS4 or DQ6 if you can afford one of those, or a GA-P35-DS3R. They are great overclockers and most all of the P35 bugs have been worked out.

With all the P45 issues lately sounds like everyone should wait on X58, or stick with P35 until the next socket comes around

Exclamation Re: Problems with GA-EP43-DS3L and 2x2GB memory

OK, EVERYONE (excuse the numlock, but this is HUGE!)...

I have successfully installed Windows XP on the GA-EP43-DS3L... finally.
After checking some forums and stuff and having no luck, my pops got the idea: look up the error code ( 0x0000007E ). Apparently, YOU NEED TO HAVE ServicePack 2 integrated into the INSTALL CD in order to run the install procedures.

YOU NEED SP2 INTEGRATED YOUR XP INSTALLATION CD

If you cannot get XP Professional with SP2, try SLIPSTREAMING ( Slipstreaming Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Create Bootable CD - HelpWithWindows.com ).

Hope this brings an end to the dreaded ruling of the BSOD!

All in all, it works GREAT now... I just need to figure out how to install Vista now, but having it work on XP is a great success.

(any way this post could get STICKY?)

Good to hear you narrowed it down. XP is up to SP3 by now, so might as well slipstream your install CD to the latest and greatest.
Vista is a whole different ball of wax...unfortunately. And drivers for x64 are also different, so it's hard to know where all these memory problems really lie. I can suspend and restart with no problem under Linux on the same machine, but Vista x64 gives me BSODs upon return. Is it the BIOS, Vista, drivers?? Who knows?

Update - Made Vista Ultimate (SP1 integrated) x86 work as well.

Apparently, you need the latest versions of these OS's in order to run them on this mobo. I can live with that!

Unhappy Re: Problems with GA-EP43-DS3L and 2x2GB memory

Hi there, I just got this EP43 board recently with a F9 BIOS, but I am unable to run my DDR2 2GB module Kingston KVR800D2N6/2G at dual channel. I tried setting the RAM voltage to 2.1, and the MCH voltage to 1.3, but it still doesn't work. Anyone able to help here?

Please post your full specs, and settings and I will try to help you, is this 2x1 or 2x2 ram? What you need to do first is test each stick one by one in slot one to be sure you did not get sent a faulty stick. Do this test at stock set speed, main timings manually set to spec, and ram voltage set to spec. Use memtest86+ (Must be this version) >>>>
Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

Then if your ram passes give me your settings and specs and I will advise. If you get errors you will have to RMA the ram >>>

This is Just a template I use to ask people their settings, pay no attention to the numbers in it, replace with yours

You got Team or Corsair? HAHA I got ya, kinda... Still lost as to why you linked that forum page then? It has generic settings for 4x1GB and you linked 2x2GB of ram.. So which do you have

I would post you some settings, but I cannot. You Must fill out the whole template with ALL your settings so I can best advise you. Please also note what CPU you have and I will be happy to give you FULL settings not like you found at that Team site

Dual channel will work fine as long as both ram sticks are good, get me your full settings and specs and I will help you for sure with all settings

Hi, I'm using 2x2GB which was why I linked this. I fixed the problem already miraculously after playing with the voltage. For some reason 2.08V worked and not 2.1.
