Default sata driver install in from within xp

hi i have a working copy of xp that I don't want to format but i would like to
use AHCI

my sata drive is working as IDE at the moment but i need hot swapping enabled for esata drives I have 2 problems to start with

1 no cd drive (has been RMA)
2 no floppy

so what i need is a way to install the drives for my intel sata ports from within xp

hi, the above links are really helpful....thanks a lot.

I have one additional question, is there anyway to install the new XP without the floppy disk, say, using the USB disk?

i am using the ex58-ud5, and had xp installed. while the hot swapping is not working, so i'd like to reinstall the XP system.

as i don't remember clearly how the existing XP installed, but whatever i modified the BIOS config, the XP system just couldn't boot. (i searched the forum a little bit, also updated to F4K BIOS, also tried enable the on-board sata controller.....none is working for me).

if anyone can help a bit little..... many thanks!!!

The above links are for doing a XP In Place Repair only, not a XP Install

Floppy disk would only be needed during a XP install if you wanted to use RAID or AHCI, and if you do not have a floppy you would have to Slipstream the drivers (Like with NLite) a USB Stick will not work

You may just need to move your disk back up to the top of the Hard Disk Boot Priority, that is in advanced BIOS page, And I am not talking about boot order either. Hard Disk Boot Priority go in that and move your disk to the top.

Then be sure you have the controller per your ports enabled to the settings you used before.

IN Integrated Peripherals BIOS page

On-board controller settings are for the Gigabyte Ports (White Ports)

The ones at the top labeled as SATA RAID/AHCI mode are the Intel Controller (Blue ports)

So depending on where you have your hard drive installed you would need to enable that controller

Great to hear it! Ya slipstreaming drivers is nice!

Be sure you burn your new ISO at SLOWEST Speed

You could just integrate with nlite, make an iso, extract it to a usb drive and install it off that, who needs a floppy or cdrom. If you partition your drive right, you can even install it off hard drive.
