counterstrike problems

everytime i play counterstrike 1.5 the computer after a while goes haywire. the controls freeze up and the screen turns into color stripes and the sound goes into a high pitch scratchy mode. i got it with my videocard a radeon 8500. is it the video card that is messing it up or the software itself? please help

i doubt its the VideoCard, it could be the software itself, or it could be conflicting somewhere with your O/s...I'm pretty sure its not a hardware issue though.(lol I wasn' tmuch help was I?)

how would i know what program is causing a conflict with this?
accomp.txt or something always shows up as the error file some times. should i delete or replace
