What is texture Memory

For Doom 3, Ultra Quality requires 500mb of texture memory. What does that mean? Does it mean rams or memory of the graphic card?

Ultra Quality settings in Doom 3 were created for future video cards with 512MB installed memory. If your board does not have this much memory (none do just yet), then these huge textures have to be imported from the system, which slows down the process.

o0o0o0o0o ok. BTW, there are 512mb cards out for AGP. It's not on market shelf but it's availible for purchase. just google "512mb AGP" I have another question. I can only reach 4X AA in the Advanced settings for the game. Is this because 6X AA is the max for my card or the numbers are on different context?

Ya but those 512Mb cards are not made for gaming. =/

Before the year's end there should be gaming cards with 512MB of onboard memory from both ATi and nVIDIA.

If it's not made for gaming, then what for? Video editing or dvd play back?

Design. Plus, at $3,000-4,000, they are a bit on the expensive side.
