ive updated my bios to jz's ga-x58a-ud3r rev2 mod2 FH5, i think gsata3 is broke, the last posting bios im refering to, it used to search and say no drives found twice, now it i just get the 2 screens with no searching, i mean when its on the last posting bios for gsata3(i think its jmicron) thw first screen will flash up but wont search, scond screen will flash up but no search, i dont even get that twirling icon that looks like this -- it used to spin clockwise then say no drives found, its hard to explain, i cant remember waht each screen says, there both just flashes now, is it some change in the rom where it wont search for drives anymore if there is none plugged in? it used to search regardless, i guess ill have to plug i drive into sata 3 and find out that way. If it was the rom then someone wouldsaid something by now i suppose. If you no what im on about can you tell me if its some change in the rom, and if it happens to you with the new roms,and if it doeshappen do you stil have sata3 functionality.

I used my modded version of the x58a-ud5 rev2 bios that has the latest intel rom and the jmicron rom. I know the latest intel room will not show the raid rom screen if only 1 drive is connected to the intel sata2 controller. It will only show you the ahci rom screen. I dont know the same for the jmicron as I have that controller set to ahci.

The jmicron controller is the 2nd sata2 controller. The sata3 controller is a marvell controller.

Ahh, yes, i tried yors after, still the same, its def the j micron posting screen, i can barely catch the name each time(2 times), before, it used to search and say no drive found twice, now i just get flash of the sceen twice, is this normal nowfor the new rom? meaning it no longer will search if no drives are plugged in,only ports im using is intel 1 to 4, all set to ahci, esata, gsata etc. Ports still show in OS devices as enabled, I use GIGABYTE GBB36X controllers because jmicrons mess with my sound.Infact, i think my esata is connected to one of them but have no drive or lead to test. Also is it normal to still see the old dates, on intel post screen still says 2008, jmicron post screen still says 2010, rom v1.07.28 or close to it, shouldnt they change if you have new roms?

I'm having an issue booting my GA-X58A-UD5 Rev1. I flashed it from F6 to F8b with an updated Intel RAID OROM, and it seems fine, except for the following issue:

When the Intel AHCI BIOS OROM starts, before the RAID OROM, it never finds any controllers, sitting at Code 10. The only way I have found to make it find the controllers, and thereby the drives, is to press Delete to enter the BIOS Config menu. For some reason, this allows the AHCI BIOS to find the controllers, which show the drives, and then the RAID OROM loads, functions as expected, but dumps me back into the BIOS config...

If I don't press Delete, the AHCI BIOS hangs at a flashing "_" cursor, and never recovers.

How do I proceed? I don't know if I can flash it back to a prior release since these new BIOSes are EFI-Hybrid, larger than QFLASH supports (from what I understand). I could try getting the system in IDE-emulation mode, install windows, and use @BIOS, that might work.

EDIT: Resolved. Found a modded BIOS version that I could flash over it, everything is working as intended now :)

Is there a changelog for these BIOS's somewhere?
It'd be nice to have some idea of what to expect when you flash a new one.

I'm running the f4b right now so I'm thinking f4c may not have a lot of changes...

Im using ga-x58a-ud3r rv2 bios fh5 jz mod 2, ive noticed as i said in previous posts that the jmicron now behaves different, whether its working normal or theres a problem i dont lknow because im not using the ports, i have noticed that it says jmicron now instead of gigabyte, this could be the problem meaning that gigabyte have been messing with the jmicron so in turn its only compatable with there version of the jmicron rom, used to search for drives ,say done, then say no drives found, i get none of this now with the new jmicron rom, theres notyhing wrong with the rom, i suspect that gigabyte have screwed things up so the jmicron is no longer a genuine jmicron so you have to use there version wich says gigabyte on the post screen instead of jmicron(lol,sounds like a tongue twister). I really think this is the problem in this case, ill continue to use the latest roms untill there comes a time when ill try the ports and probably find they wont find drives. Infact, can any of the modders look into the code from fh5 normal bios with no updated jmicron and check the code against the new jmicron in the fh5 mod 2 bios and see if theres a difference in the gigabyte version and the proper jmicron version please, it would help if everyone new if the code had been messed with,could be the answer to why ppls pc;s dont find drives when updating there roms.Also if this is the case then i wont be buying anything with gigabyte logo on it again.

There is nothing wrong with the latest Jmicron rom. Actually I never noticed it saying gigabyte before but just about any gigabyte board that says gsata uses the jmicron controller. Gigabyte may have gone in to the actual rom and entered their name when ever/ if ever they update then when posting a new bios. But these new roms are right from the jmicron.

I use this controller for 1 hdd on my ud5 in ahci mode. have not tried the raid as I dont need raid on that controller.

Has i said in the previous post, the problem isnt the new rom,there nothing wrong with the original jmicron rom, i think that gigabyte have messed with something, and some people get lucky and others dont because of this change that i think gigabyte have done, like i said i will continue to carry on using your mod,my pc posts fine, ports show as enabled in the OS.I even have a smoother experiance when gaming although i dont see why roms would affect gaming.Is there anyway you could re enable windows sound enhancements with the new theatre v4? has it stands now, all enhancements are disabled if you install dolby theatr v4 which then stops you from upmixing 2channel stereo to 5.1,
